Why Come to Keene?

To See Your Kitchen Store!

Your Kitchen Store is the largest independent kitchen store in New England.  Locally
owned for 18 years,  they have recently renovated and moved into their fantastic location right on Main Street in Keene.  The renovation is beautiful - right down to restoring original details from the building.  Trust me,  you will find something here which you didn't even know you needed!

Saturday Barbeque

It's cookout time once again at Monadnock Aviation.  We'll start grilling at noon on Saturday and continue until the food runs out.  Please join us.

New Effective Dates

The new Airport Facility Directory and IFR publications for our area became effective July 29th.  We have them in stock.

Have you ever sat down to plan your next flight just to discover your paper charts were out of date?  We can help to ensure your charts are always current.

Place your standing order with us.  We can notify you a few days before your charts expire and then deliver the new publications to your hangar at Keene, or notify you that your order is at the FBO for pick up.   There is no contract or long term agreement and we do not charge extra for this service; just our way to help keep your charts current.
N414SX First Flight

Congratulations are in order for Glenn Hunt of Keene's EAA Chapter 1314.  Glenn conducted his maiden flight in N414SX, his newly built Sonex, on July 2nd.  The flight duration was about 30 minutes.  Both Glenn and the aircraft  performed very well.  Congratulations Glenn.  Bravo Zulu (well done)!
Change to Aircraft Registration Rules

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has published new regulations that dramatically alter the aircraft registration process and establish new requirements to ensure registration records are kept current.

All aircraft owners are impacted by this rule. Existing registrations will expire and owners are required to re-register their aircraft in an effort spread over the next three years. Thereafter, all registrations must be renewed every three years or the registration will expire.

The purpose of the new rule is to ensure that the FAA aircraft database contains accurate information on aircraft registration. The FAA believes that the primary benefit of this rulemaking will be the increased accuracy of the records within the Aircraft Registry.

The FAA will mail two reminder postcards regarding the need to complete the re-registration/renewal process, as long as there is a valid mailing address in the current records.

The FAA will permit those registrations that do not include a change to any information to be completed online. If there is a change to any information, the appropriate form must be mailed to the FAA.

These are just a few highlights from the 16 pages of text!  You can check out the complete rule and discussion heretake a look at the chart on page 14 which shows the expiration and registration schedule.
Courtesy Vehicle

Did you know that Monadnock Aviation has a courtesy vehicle available if you fly in and need to get into town for a short visit?  Our car has been used for business meetings, lunch trips, personnel pick up, shopping trips, and even to retrieve a Christmas Tree for transport to Connecticut!  We're here to help.
Light Sport Day at Parlin

Looking for something to do this Saturday?  Parlin Field (2B3), in Newport, NH, is hosting a Light Sport Aircraft Day.  The raindate is Sunday.

The fun kicks off at 9:00am and includes exhibition and demo flights by Flight Design, Tecnam, Legend Cub, Remos, and Jabiru.  Also on the schedule is FAA Seminar The World of Light Sport.

Safety Seminars

Did you know you can receive notices whenever a safety seminar is scheduled near you?  FAASafety.Gov  has information about seminars, the FAA Safety Team, the WINGS Program, and more.

August 17- Pilot Liability.
Mark Santangelo will present his views and experience regarding pilot liability.  Mark is a CFII, a FAASTeam Representative and an aviation attorney.  He will focus his discussion on legal liability issues for pilots. What situations pose the greatest liability potential and what can you do to mitigate the risk? An in-depth examination of current regulations and actual examples will illustrate how the legal system operates in a post-accident environment.

September 21We are in the process of rescheduling Dr. Ray for another date after September.  He keeps a very busy calendar and had to take a rain check on the originally scheduled September safety seminar.  We will get him here as soon as his schedule permits.  In the meantime, I will pursue another speaker for September 21st.

Coming Soon:
Lost and found.
FAA New England Region Deputy Flight Surgeon Dr. Joseph Ray will be here to answer your medical certification questions.  Every pilot needs to be medically fit to fly, and most pilots need an FAA medical certificate to fly legally. So how does a prudent pilot lead a lifestyle that will lead to flight fitness? And what does a pilot do if he/she becomes medically unfit for flight? This seminar will answer questions about health conditions that lead to the loss of a medical certificate, and the steps necessary to have that certificate reinstated.  Dr. Ray will take you step-by-step through the details.  Have your medical certification questions answered by the expert.
