Why Come to Keene?

To Be Inspired...on
top of Mount Monadnock!

Mount Monadnock (3165 ft) is said to be the most climbed mountain in America and second in the world only to Mount Fuji.  I do not know who is counting the number of climbers but I can report that it is a fun climb with a spectacular view waiting at the top.  The ascent takes the average person 2 to 3 hours and the descent a bit less which  makes it an easy hike to make in a day.   There are over 40 miles of maintained trails on the mountain so you can choose the level of difficulty which best suits you.  This is a great family outing!

See what Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau  had to say about Grand Monadnock.

Happy Birthday America Barbeque!

Please join us this Saturday to celebrate the birthday of our wonderful country.   We'll start the waves of burgers, hotdogs, birthday cake and more at noon.   We will bring the food; you bring the airplanes and conversation.

IMC Club

The next meeting of The Keene IMC Club at Monadnock Aviation will be held Monday, July 5th from 6:00-7:00pm.  There will be a presentation and discussion on the six configurations of instrument flight.  All pilots are welcome whether or not you hold an instrument rating.

The IMC Club is a great way to keep your instrument skills sharp and learn from the tribulations and triumphs of other instrument pilots.

EAA Chapter 1314 is hosting a Young Eagles Day for any kids who were unable to go up on Keene Aviation Day.  Pilots and airplanes are needed.  Please contact Warren Hurd at whurd@wildblue.net  if you are interested.  Monadnock Aviation will offer discounted fuel to all Young Eagles pilots that day.

Safety Seminars

Did you know you can receive notices whenever a safety seminar is scheduled near you?  FAASafety.Gov  has information about seminars, the FAA Safety Team, the WINGS Program, and more.

July 20-  FAA New England Region Deputy Flight Surgeon Dr. Ray will be here to answer your medical certification questions.  Every pilot needs to be medically fit to fly, and most pilots need an FAA medical certificate to fly legally. So how does a prudent pilot lead a lifestyle that will lead to flight fitness? And what does a pilot do if he/she becomes medically unfit for flight? This seminar will answer questions about health conditions that lead to the loss of a medical certificate, and the steps necessary to have that certificate reinstated. FAA New England Region Deputy Flight Surgeon Dr. Ray will take you step-by-step through the details.

August 17- Mark Santangelo will present his views and experience regarding pilot liability.  What do you need to know to stay out of trouble?  Mark is a retired aviation attorney, a member of the FAA Safety Team, and a CFI/CFII/MEI.

September 21-
  Confirming speaker and topic.
