Keene Aviation Day and Airshow

This is airshow weekend in Keene!  The gates open to the public Saturday at 10:00am and close at 4:00pm.  The airshow starts about noon.  Admission is $5.00; under 12 are free.  Our raindate is Sunday, June 6th.

We are proud to present a spectacular airshow with wing walking, aerobatics, a P-51 mustang, Black Daggers Parachute demonstration, Yakattack, and more.  We'll also have military and civilian aircraft on static display, radio controlled aircraft, tethered hot air balloon rides, helicopter rides, food vendors, EAA Young Eagles Flights, face painting, and more.  Check our website for more details.

We can always use more aircraft for static display.  We have a wide variety of aircraft from ultralights and gliders right up to the C-130 for people to look at.  Would love to display yours too!  Keep in mind that will mean your aircraft is committed until 4:00pm as we can not move aircraft once the grounds are open to the public.

We have invited only non-profit organizations from the area to sell food at the event-- and they will keep 100% of what they earn.   This day is all about aviation but it also provides a great opportunity to promote those organizations which help our community every day!

EAA Chapter 1314 is coordinating the EAA Young Eagles flights and can use more pilots and planes.  Please contact Don Green at N144dg@yahoo.com if you are interested in helping with the flights.

We always need volunteers to make the day run smoothly.  If you are interested in volunteering  any time on Saturday please let me know.

For anyone based at Keene, we need hangar space for the airshow weekend for performers.  Keep us in mind if you have an open hangar that you are willing to let us use.
Safety Seminars

Did you know you can receive notices whenever a safety seminar is scheduled near you?  FAASafety.Gov  has information about seminars, the FAA Safety Team, the WINGS Program, and more.

June 15Flying the New York VFR Corridor.   On November 19, 2009 the FAA issued an amendment to Part 93.  This amendment established a Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA) in the vicinity of New York City and defines operational procedures for pilots within the SFRA. With the advent of the SFRA many of the former "recommendations" have now become regulatory. This seminar will present all the new rules for flying in the SFRA. It will also point out the hazards and risks, and demonstrate how to fly the route safely and legally.

Doug is the National Certificated Flight Instructor of the Year for 2004. A Master Certified Flight Instructor, Gold Seal Instructor, and Designated Pilot Examiner, he is based at the Columbia County Airport (1B1) in Hudson, NY.
