Saturday Barbeque

Please join us this Saturday at noon for a free barbeque. We've had quite a spread of food lately (hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, pulled pork, macaroni salad, etc...).   Come and partake!

International Learn To Fly Day

This Saturday, May 15th, has been designated International Learn to Fly Day by AOPA and EAA.  This in an effort to spread interest in general aviation and generate enthusiasm for flight training.  The day is also about showing  non-pilots how local airports can benefit our communities.

We are thrilled to participate in the day by offering our barbeque and steeply discounted introductory flights. This will be a place for the public to meet pilots, see airplanes, and talk with flight instructors.
Ground School

Are you a student pilot who still needs to take the written exam?  Perhaps you are a private pilot rekindling your old interest in flying.  Consider taking our Private Pilot Ground School at Keene State College this summer.  The course provides 3 college credit hours.

Classes begin on Tuesday, March 18th and meet every Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:30pm on campus.  Register for course SAFE-290-01C by telephone at 603-358-2290.
Keene Aviation Day

Keene Aviation Day is fast approaching. The date is June 5th from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

There will be a spectacular airshow, EAA Young Eagles Flights, military and civilian aircraft on static display, radio controlled aircraft, tethered hot air balloon rides, helicopter rides, food vendors, face painting, and more.  Check our website for more details.

We have invited only non-profit organizations from the area to sell food at the event-- and they will keep 100% of what they earn.   This day is all about aviation but it also provides a great opportunity to promote those organizations which help our community every day!

EAA Chapter 1314 is coordinating the EAA Young Eagles flights and can more pilots and planes.  Please contact Don Green at N144dg@peoplepc.com if you are interested in helping with the flights.

If you would like to participate that day in any fashion, please send me an email.
Safety Seminars

Did you know you can receive notices whenever a safety seminar is scheduled near you?  FAASafety.Gov  has information about seminars, the FAA Safety Team, the WINGS Program, and more.

May 18- Boston TRACON - An Evening With ATC.  Airspace can be confusing; don't let it get the best of you.  Boston TRACON Air Traffic Control Specialist Bob Adelizzi will discuss how to conduct safe and efficient flight operations in different classes of airspace.  Be confident and competent while using ATC services and flying in controlled airspace.

Bob has been a controller at Boston TRACON for twenty five years and affiliated with the FAA safety program for over twenty.   His "Evening with ATC" presentations are the highest attended safety programs in New England.

June 15Flying the New York VFR Corridor.   On November 19, 2009 the FAA issued an amendment to Part 93.  This amendment established a Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA) in the vicinity of New York City and defines operational procedures for pilots within the SFRA. With the advent of the SFRA many of the former "recommendations" have now become regulatory. This seminar will present all the new rules for flying in the SFRA. It will also point out the hazards and risks, and demonstrate how to fly the route safely and legally.

Doug is the National Certificated Flight Instructor of the Year for 2004. A Master Certified Flight Instructor, Gold Seal Instructor, and Designated Pilot Examiner, he is based at the Columbia County Airport (1B1) in Hudson, NY.
