Good food, good company, good airplanes, and free. What's not to like? We'll man the grill at noon. Hope to see you here. |
Airframe Needed for Aviation Exhibit
Do you have a non-airworthy aircraft in your hangar? We are looking for an aircraft to clean up and prepare for display as part of an aviation exhibit we are sponsoring for the soon-to-be Keene Children's Museum.
The aircraft does not need to be airworthy nor pretty. It will never be flown and we will donate all the time and materials to make it look good and be kid friendly.
The aircraft will be used for kids to climb into and dream!

Keene Aviation Day
Plans for the upcoming Keene Aviation Day are well underway. The date is June 5th with a raindate of June 6th, 10:00am to 4:00pm.
The day is really taking shape and will display many different facets of aviation. We will have an airshow, radio controlled aircraft, parachute jumping demos, EAA Young Eagle's Flights, lots of military and civilian aircraft on static display (You will not believe what we have lined up for display!), tethered hot air balloon rides, helicopter rides, food vendors (all non-profit organizations from our community), face painting, and more. Check our website for Aviation Day updates as we confirm more participants.
If you would like to help that day please contact me. What we need most are pilots to fly Young Eagle's flights and unusual aircraft for static display.
All transient aircraft not being displayed at Aviation Day will be parked on the east ramp (near our maintenance hangar) that day. We will provide a shuttle to the west side of the airport where the activities are taking place. |

The first meeting of the Keene IMC Club was April 12th at Monadnock Aviation. We had a terrific turnout and look forward to future meetings. We even had a cameo appearance from the Nashua IMC Club.
Our club meets at 6:00pm the first Monday of each month. This is free! While mainly focused on instrument rated pilots, any non-instrument pilot is also welcome to attend. |

Safety Seminars
Did you know you can receive notices whenever a safety seminar is scheduled near you? FAASafety.Gov has information about seminars, the FAA Safety Team, the WINGS Program, and more.
April 20- Are you Covered? Doug Tibbs, from NationAir, will deliver a lively presentation on various aviation insurance issues. They will include tips on how aircraft owners can lower their renewal premiums, fact and fiction regarding renter's insurance, and how an FBO's insurance covers you and how it does not. We will also save time to answer your specific questions. I promise that Doug will NOT try to sell you insurance! His goal is to unravel the complexities of an important and ubiquitous aviation product.
Doug is a fantastic speaker. He is a former corporate pilot and has been an aviation insurance broker for 8 years. Doug runs the largest aviation insurance office in the northeast for one of the largest aviation insurance specialists in the country. He is also a CFI/CFII.
May 18- Boston TRACON - An Evening With ATC. Airspace can be confusing; don't let it get the best of you. Boston TRACON Air Traffic Control Specialist Bob Adelizzi will discuss how to conduct safe and efficient flight operations in different classes of airspace. Be confident and competent while using ATC services and flying in controlled airspace.
Bob has been a controller at Boston TRACON for twenty five years and affiliated with the FAA safety program for over twenty. His "Evening with ATC" presentations are the highest attended safety programs in New England.
June 15- Flying the New York VFR Corridor. Flying the NY VFR corridor is an effective way to transition the New York Metropolitan area and is also an awe-filled scenic flight. However, the risks are numerous and the flight could become awful rather than awe-filled. This seminar presents all the hazards and risks, and then shows how to fly the route safely. Learn all the important reporting points, safe altitudes, where and how the helicopters operate, and proper frequencies to use. The knowledge gained from this seminar will allow you to fly the corridor more safely and with reduced risk to all aircraft in the airspace.
Doug is the National Certificated Flight Instructor of the Year for 2004. A Master Certified Flight Instructor, Gold Seal Instructor, and Designated Pilot Examiner, he is based at the Columbia County Airport (1B1) in Hudson, NY.

You can register for the seminars where I have provided links. These are part of the FAA's Wings Pilot Proficiency Program.
All seminars are from 6 to 8pm at Monadnock Aviation in the Keene airport's main terminal.

Good Idea For A Day Trip
Here is a tip I picked up from Russ Kelsea's newsletter at Parlin Field. Sanford, Maine (KSFM) is a great destination for a weekday lunch, but did you know you can also take the Sanford Ocean Shuttle from the airport to Wells beach six times a day? Call the Cockpit cafe at (207) 324-7332 for restaurant hours and visit the shuttle website for fares and schedules.
