Why Come to Keene?

Sap Gathering at Stonewall Farm
Saturday March 27
10am-4pm

This event is a Farm staff favorite! Teams of horses and their drivers come from all over New England to race through the forested trails collecting sap and delivering it to the sugar house. The grace and beauty of the horse teams, the sweet smell of boiling sap, the tantalizing taste of fresh syrup and the first warmth of spring make this a fun family event you won't want to miss!

I would be happy to help you with hotel, restaurant, or rental car reservations.

Flying to Sun n' Fun? Check Your Charts.

If you plan on flying to Sun n' Fun in Lakeland, Florida (April 13-18) take a look at your charts.  The AFD and many IFR charts will expire on April 8th.  Let me know what you need and I can have a complete set waiting for you at the FBO.

Stay Sharp

Warm weather is on the way!  If you have not flown for a few months consider brushing up on your airmanship skills before hopping back into the airplane.  For an hour, or so, of flight instruction you may avoid some horrible moments in the air.

We have two flight instructors (CFI/CFII/MEI) who would be happy to help you stay sharp.

If you would like to access our online flight scheduler, please let me know.  I will gladly create a log-in for you.

N5136C is Airborne Again

5136C Interior
The engine overhaul is complete and our Cessna 172 N5136C is ready to fly.  We'll keep it off the schedule for one more week to complete the engine break in.  Then, it is all yours!

N5136C is a 2002 Cessna 172SP.  It has an IFR enroute and approach GPS, moving map, and is IFR certified.
Pancake Fly-out

The Fitchburg Pilot's Association is hosting their First Annual Mayday Pancake Breakfast/Brunch Fly-In on Sunday, May 2nd.  Let's go together!  Anyone interested can gather at the FBO that morning.  Time and details to come.

I have several pilots and students who want to participate but need a seat in an airplane.  Please let me know if you have the room and desire to take a hitchhiker.
Safety Seminars

Did you know you can receive notices whenever a safety seminar is scheduled near you?  FAASafety.Gov  has information about seminars, the FAA Safety Team, the WINGS Program, and more.

March 30- Do You Talk Too Much? Ask Doug Stewart.  Proper radio communications ease your workload, decrease your stress, and increase everyone's safety.  Doug will offer practical tips for communicating in today's airspace. You'll get straight forward information on common pitfalls, emergencies, and challenges at both towered and nontowered airports.  Make sure you communicate efficiently and effectively.

Doug is the "National Certificated Flight Instructor of the Year for 2004". A Master Certified Flight Instructor, Gold Seal Instructor, and Designated Pilot Examiner, he is based at the Columbia County Airport (1B1) in Hudson, NY.

April 20-  Are you Covered? Doug Tibbs, from NationAir, will deliver a lively presentation on various aviation insurance issues.  They will include tips on how aircraft owners can lower their renewal premiums, fact and fiction regarding renter's insurance, and how an FBO's insurance covers you and how it does not.  We will also save time to answer your specific questions.  I promise that Doug will NOT try to sell you insurance!  His goal is to unravel the complexities of an important and ubiquitous aviation product. This seminar was originally scheduled for February 16th, but postponed due to bad weather.  Doug was gracious enough to offer another date.

Doug is a fantastic speaker.  He is a former corporate pilot and has been an aviation insurance broker for 8 years.  Doug runs the largest aviation insurance office in the northeast for one of the largest aviation insurance specialists in the country. He is also a CFI/CFII.

May 18- Boston TRACON - An Evening With ATC. Airspace can be confusing; don't let it get the best of you.  Boston TRACON Air Traffic Control Specialist Bob Adelizzi will discuss how to conduct safe and efficient flight operations in different classes of airspace.  Be confident and competent while using ATC services and flying in controlled airspace

Bob has been a controller at Boston TRACON for twenty five years and affiliated with the FAA safety program for over twenty.   His "Evening with ATC" presentations are the highest attended safety programs in New England.

Aircraft Maintenance

There is no question that aircraft maintenance is expensive.  But have you ever left your maintenance shop and wondered where your money just went?

At Monadnock Aviation, we provide you with a detailed parts and labor estimate before doing any work.  Our online maintenance system allows you to check on the status of your aircraft at your convenience, approve or defer any items, and see the projected costs.  The final invoice gives a breakdown of all labor and parts expenses.
