How do you find wisdom in your personal encounters?

In an effort to fully surrender my business to the Restorer, I developed the mission statement for our company, "Serve God and others," printing it on our brochures discreetly under the postal indicia.

I'll never forget the words of an Australian car collector after he picked up a brochure to read aloud my company's guiding phrase. "You know, before I called you, I noticed this line on your brochures. I realize someone could talk these things and walk a totally different path; however, I felt like it was worth taking a chance to cross the pond for someone who was willing to stand up and be counted."

I learned that day about the power discovered in the Restorer, who calls us to serve Him and others. Paul offered the secret to accomplishing this: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 2:3-5).

When we humble ourselves to God and to the people we meet, we discover the sweet spot where our unselfish interests intersect with God's interest and the interests of others. This is the benchmark to discover wisdom in every encounter.
