MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2010 HEROD AND JESUS (CONTROL) Herod's largest fortress was the
Herodian, 45 acres of building constructed on 200 acres of land, the
third-largest architectural find in the ancient world. The palace featured four
towers, the highest stretching 120 feet into the air, sprawling 55 feet in
diameter (a sign of his desire for control).
In the end, Herod died out of control. To
ensure mourning, rather than rejoicing, at his death, Herod issued a decree
that several prominent Jews be executed at his passing. His sister Salome
reversed this edict.
Jesus died in control, satisfied in the
Restorer's power to fulfill prophecy (John 19:2).
While on the cross, Jesus did not breathe
his last breath until he had finished His purpose, a mark of control discovered
in the power of the Restorer: "When he had received the drink, Jesus said, 'It
is finished.' With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit" (John
19:30).
Discover control from the power of God in Christ.
