MONDAY, APRIL 4, 2010 THE STUPID FOOLThe stupid fool represents the second stage of a foolish heart. Solomon observed, "As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly" (Proverbs 26:11). The stupid fool repeats his patterns of lashing out in anger (Proverbs 29:11), leading to the disruption of family relationships (Proverbs 10:1). He repeats his wickedness (Proverbs 10:23), deceit (Proverbs 14:8), slander (Proverbs 10:18), and shame (Proverbs 3:35). The stupid fool is a person who has no sense of learning from his actions, no matter how many times he falls.
Consider asking a close, trusted friend the following questions regarding your potential arenas of stupidity: Is folly evident in your life? Do you repeat the same destructive behavior? Are you chasing fantasies? In relationships, do you talk more than you listen? If the answer to any of these questions is "Yes," it's time to consider that you may be trusting in yourself rather than God.  |
