Stephen Cary, one of the founding fathers of Oregon Pinot Noir
1973 - starting his wine career as Director of Wine Services at Sunriver Lodge Resort.
1975 - joined Henny-Hinsdale Wine Imports in Salem.
1979 - Cary co-founded the Steamboat Pinot Noir Conference, an annual symposium of the world's Pinot Noir makers. Steamboat remains at the font of knowledge on Pinot Noir in the world and has inspired other trade-like events, including the Cool-Climate Symposium held in New Zealand.
1985 - national wine news was the benchmark Burgundy/Oregon Challenge in New York. Quietly instigated by Cary, the blind tasting proved without doubt the world status of Oregon Pinot Noir.
Currently - President/Winemaker at Yamhill Valley Vineyards.
