| NEW CLUBS FOR SUMMER 2012 |
|
Crestwood is happy to announce some exciting new Club options for 3rd-6th graders. Our optional Clubs offer our campers the opportunity to enhance their skills in a specific area by being pulled out of a regularly scheduled activity. If you are interested in the new Club options below or any other areas that your child would like to explore, please let your Division Head know.

| FINE ARTS CLUB |
This summer we will be welcoming a new Fine Arts Specialist, Ashton Mochamer. She is a recent graduate with special skills in Art History, Art Education, and Studio Art. She is very excited to teach interested campers how to use their imagination while honing in on key concepts of fine art making.
Each day of the week will have a different focus: Mondays - Get out that paint brush! Explore different techniques in watercolor & acrylic painting. Tuesdays - Sharpen your pencils! Develop skills in drawing, from pastels to pointillism. Wednesdays - Art Appreciation! Learn about an artist while creating your own unique project. Thursdays - Get creative with sculpture! Learn basic skills, from clay pots to the construction of recycled items. Fridays - It's your day! Need to finish a project or have a great idea for a new one? Come practice your newly acquired skills. |
| PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB |
NEW for this summer, our 3rd-6th graders can choose to learn all about the wonderful world of photography with our new Photography Club. Hank Arkin, Crestwood's new Photography Specialist, was a NYC teacher and guidance counselor, and is currently a full time professional photographer. His work has been published in various newspapers including Newsday Explore Long Island and has photo credits in numerous books.
Campers will learn the basics of photography, how the camera compares to the human eye, the roll of light, and composition. Advance campers will learn advanced composition, the different camera functions, iso, shutter speed and aperture. Club participants will take pictures of activities on the camp grounds and have suggested shooting assignments for the weekends.
Use of a camper's own inexpensive digital camera is suggested but not required.
Please call the office if your child is interested in this club or send us an e-mail.
