Elective Program for 3rd-6th Graders &
NEW for 2012! 2nd Grade Elective Program |
Our elective program is designed to give your child choices in their schedule. This summer we are giving 2nd graders an introduction to our elective program with one double period elective per week. Our 3rd-6th graders will continue to enjoy three double period electives per week.
Each grade will be presented with a varied assortment of fun activities to choose from so each child can select the electives that appeal to them the most. These include sports, crafts, dance, adventure, music and more. In June, you will receive a form in the mail listing this summer's elective options. Please return this form with your child's preferences. It is also our hope that with your cooperation, campers will gain maturity and experience in the decision making process to ensure the best summer experience possible! |

Pull-out Clubs for 1st-6th Graders |
In our last email, we told you about our Drama, Fitness, and Swim clubs and programs. In addition to these, we have other "pull-out" clubs and clinics (listed below) for 1st-6th graders that can be incorporated into their day, allowing customization based on specific interests and special needs. These clubs and clinics are optional. Since children will enjoy all the activities available at Crestwood as part of their regular schedule, we find that only a small percentage of our children choose to take advantage of these clubs.
- Sports Clubs - Run by our Athletic Director and staff plus specific sports coaches (softball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse and football)
- Fine Arts Clubs - Provides opportunities for visual artistic expression
- Chess Club - For beginners to advanced players
- Mandarin Club - Learn a new language and culture that would not necessarily be part of the daily camp schedule
- Karate Club - Learn the basics of the ancient art of Kempo Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, and Kung Fu
- NEW! Puppy Program - Learn how to take care of our puppies
- NEW! Trapeze Club - Learn the tips of the trade - culminates with a circus/trapeze camper performance at the end of camp
- As always, most of the activities at Crestwood are available for optional pull-out clubs i.e. Dance, Golf, Tennis, Archery, Cheerleading, Gymnastics, and more!
If you are interested in any of these clubs or would like to discuss other options with your Division Head, please contact the office at 631-692-6361. You may sign your child up for clubs or get more information during Family Fun and Clothing Day on June 23, 2012. Children may also sign up for most of our clubs after the summer has begun and after they have had the chance to develop new interests and skills. |
| CRESTWOOD IDOL - Back By Popular Demand |
|
Crestwood Idol was so successful last year that we are bringing it back again this summer! Campers entering 3rd-6th grade will train and receive instruction for an end of the summer vocal performance. Campers who participate in this non-competitive pull-out club will perform either as a soloist or part of a small ensemble (based on each child's preference and on the instructor's recommendation).
If your child is interested in this club opportunity please click here for the sign-up form. Please fill it out and mail, fax or email it back to us by 6/15/12.
Please Note: The performance will be during the final week of our summer program and children need to attend a minimum of 6 weeks (or Any 30 Days) that includes the final week of camp to participate in this club. |
