Annie Lennox visits The Big Issue Malawi
Scottish pop star Annie Lennox recently visited The Big Issue Malawi, as part of her first trip as a Scottish Parliament-appointed envoy. The Big Issue Malawi is supported by INSP and funded by the Scottish Government. Addressing staff and vendors, Annie Lennox said: "I think you're doing great work. The street paper has transformed people's lives at a grassroots level". Read more.

INSP in the developing world
INSP's Training and Development Manager continues to provide ongoing support and mentoring to all INSP street papers in Africa. He is currently in Malawi where he working to support The Big Issue Malawi team. He will then move to Nigeria where he will continue working with three different community groups to launch INSP's latest street paper as part of an UNDEF-funded project.
INSP staff have also been working closely with Latin American members this month and INSP's Executive Director recently met with an organisation in Belo Horizonte about the possibility of starting a new street paper there.

Developing the Street News Service
INSP is currently forming the SNS 'member working group' for 2011. This group of street paper editors will help to guide the future development strategy of the SNS in 2011-12. In addition, INSP staff are now working with an SNS 'external advisory committee' consisting of senior editors, a media lawyer, media analysts and other experienced professionals who will advise on the future strategy of the SNS.
