Project work in Africa
The Managing Director of The Big Issue Australia, Steven Persson, will soon lead a 6-day training in Malawi for The Big Issue Malawi staff, board and vendors. The training visit, supported by the Scottish Government International Division, will include will include training workshops on editorial development, distribution, marketing and advertising. The purpose of the training is to help transfer skills within the INSP network, to ensure the that Malawian paper becomes self-sustainable in 3-5 years. |

Street News Service development
A working group of street paper editors have been working with INSP staff on the next exciting phase of development for the Street News Service (SNS) - INSP's global independent news service. Planning is underway for a new-look SNS website, which we aim to launch in the first quarter of next year; and the recruitment process for our first-ever SNS Editor will begin in February. |

Croatian street paper joins the network
INSP recently welcomed a new member street paper to the network. Ulične
Svjetiljke ('Street Lamps') is Croatia's only street paper and distributes in several towns and cities throughout the country. INSP is delighted to add another paper,
another country and another language to the growing network. Click here

- INSP's Executive Director, Lisa Maclean, was recently invited to meet the High Commissioner of Malawi as part of her board duties for NIDOS (the Network of Development Organisations in Scotland) and INSP's Scottish Government funded project in Malawi. Following their recent AGM, Lisa is now Treasurer of NIDOS, which brings INSP even closer to like-minded partners, supporters and government.
Invitations were recently sent out for an exclusive networking event hosted for INSP by Reuters, in London. David Schlesinger (pictured), our Honorary President, is very keen to help INSP establish new corporate and media connections and this event will bring some 100 individuals together, as part of INSP's 15th Anniversary celebrations. |
