INSP at the Homeless
World Cup
Teams across the world are currently preparing
for the 7th annual Homeless World Cup, which takes place in Milan
from the 6th - 13th September. INSP and the HWC go back a long way: It was at the 2001 INSP Conference in Cape Town, South Africa that Mel Young, co-founder of INSP and The Big Issue Scotland, and Harald Schmied, editor of Megaphon street paper in Austria, came up with the idea.
This year, INSP staff Lisa Maclean
and Maree Aldam will attend the event; to meet several street paper teams, talk to
organisations who may be interested in starting a street paper and meet with
Italian street paper Terre di Mezzo to discuss their bid to host a future INSP conference in
2011/12. Former SNS intern Danielle Batist will also be covering the event as the Street News Service's roving reporter. You can view her blog here. Contact us for more information.

paper there. Following the appointment of Glasgow's Lord Provost Bob Winter as its
first-ever Patron, INSP is continuing to develop the concept of having a
