This Month's Featured Community Member
Sadhu Kaur Khalsa
I love being a part of this community
and find value in it because:
I feel grateful every day I am here!
When I look at the amazing sky, sometimes deep dark blue, or bright orange
with rays of purple, it makes me feel connected with the Universe and
the longing to live and serve. There are so many opportunities in this
community. I'm happy to participate in Ishnan Seva on Sunday's
morning as much as I can, cleaning the floors, and being part
of a group effort. It is my blessing also to teach Kundalini Yoga on
Thursday afternoons at the children's program. As much as I prepare for
that time, I find myself having to come out of my
comfort zone and try to be as flexible as possible and surrender to
the innocent and spontaneous actions of the children. I love having many friends here, with so many opportunities to meditate and be together. It's especially important for me because it
brings me the coziness and support I need since moving away from my home in Brazil.
Something you may not know about me:
Gurusevak and I spent 3
months in India before we got married and there I started to draw and paint
with watercolors and practiced singing. I
loved it!
Would also like to share:
Since I moved here in June, it has been my longing to do 40 days of group sadhana. At first I thought it would be
easy to make it (since I live so close to the Gurdwara). Well, it took
me almost a year to start. I'm feeling grateful to have a group of
friends who decided to start going to sadhana together on April 1st and support each
other. We have so many good teachers and musicians in this community to
carry us, so if you feel inspired, join us!

| This Month's Featured Unsung Hero!
Thank you for your selfless service!
Hari Pal Singh
This month we would like to honor Hari Pal Singh for the service he does in regards to Mother Earth! We always see him riding his bike around instead of driving. Not only is he getting great exercise but he is helping Mother Earth by reducing his carbon foot prints.
We know it takes extra efforts, Hari Pal, so we wanted to thank you for making the extra effort. Way to go! May God and Guru Bless you now and forever!
Hari Pal would also like to recommend anyone in the ashram who would like to begin bicycling to visit The Broken Spoke in Santa Fe. They are a very personable, courteous and efficient bike shop who can set you up with the best bicycle equipment and service in town. They can be reached at 505-992-3102.

Welcome, Manjit Singh, Sukhwinder Kaur, Satvir Kaur and Taran Kaur!
Where from? Originally from Chandigarh, India, they moved to Silver Springs, Maryland in 2006.
What brought them here? Manjit Singh had a vision of Espanola, with its beautiful mountains and pinon trees even before he had read or heard anything about it. Then when he arrived he knew this was the dream he had envisioned. He has had the opportunity, through reading from the Siri Guru Granth, to really understand the meaning of the Guru's word. He has also felt the deep love and blessings from the members of this sangat and is very happy to be here with everyone.
Family and work? Manjit Singh and Sukhwinder Kaur moved here with their two daughters. Their oldest daughter, Satvir Kaur, is 20 years old and loves bhangra and Punjabi dancing. Taran Kaur, is 11 years old and enjoys participating in ashram functions and making friends with children in the sangat. Their eldest son, Yashdeep Singh, is still living in Chandigarh.
Now what? Sukhvinder loves to teach Punjabi, Gurmukhi and Indian cooking and is offering classes to anyone who would like to learn.
Her number is 753-1145 or 661-599-9752. Manjit Singh was an Electrical Contractor in India and is now finishing
a certification program at Northern New Mexico College so he can work here in
the US.

Paraguay and the 7th Lord of Miracles Tour
by
Ram Das Singh
We dedicate this entire tour to Guru Simran
Kaur Khalsa (14 years old) of Miri Piri Academy and Los Angeles, CA who graciously left her body due to cancer on
September 24, 2009
The heart of South America is Paraguay! It is a land that is situated
in between Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia. The 6 million people are a
delicate mix of Spanish, Italian, German and Indigenous. They are
smiling, kind, beautiful, and mannerful. And their pure heart shows in
their bright faces. The people speak Spanish and Guarani. Guarani is the
first and only indigenous language of the Americas to have all five
banis translated into it. This tremendous effort was completed by Sukh
Dev Kaur who was born in Paraguay to Indigenous parents. Read the entire story at Sikhnet.com

Women Coming Together in Prayer
By SS Jivan Joti Kaur Khalsa PhD "There is no miracle.
The mind is infinite when it concentrates the magnetic energy of the
psyche. There are only two things:
energy and matter. Any composition,
permutation of any energy into matter and matter into energy, can be caused by
a disciplined mental concentration. That
mental concentration is in you, it is not outside." - Yogi
Bhajan (Level II - Vitality and Stress Manual, p. 125)
The woman's prayer is
the most powerful. The women of the
Espanola Sangat had their first of many women's prayer circles in
February. We joined our collective
prayers to create a most beautiful and powerful experience together. We started by having the above quote about
shuniya, and did a meditation which stimulates the shuniya state of
consciousness. We wrote our prayerful
intentions on pieces of paper. Some
women shared their intentions before all were put into a basket. We then held hands and chanted to Guru Ram
Das, followed by putting our pieces of paper into a blazing fireplace, sending
all intentions to the loving arms of the Infinite. Guru Kirn Kaur brought yummy pastries from
Chocolate Maven and along with Yogi Tea, we sat around and chatted with one
another in a cozy, neutral, and nurturing environment.
All women are welcome. Come join together to create unity; come with
your prayers for yourself, your family, community and the world. Together we can make a difference, maybe even
a miracle. For questions, contact gurukiren@gmail.com or jivanjotikaur@gmail.com. We hope to
see you all there.

Computer Corner Oops! My Computer has Viruses!
New names and new threats from fake security applications
By Guruka Singh
Malicious applications posing as antivirus software
are not new, but they're more common than ever - and more
sophisticated.
They pop up on your screen, usually when you are using your
browser to view a Web page, warning you that your system is infected
with all kinds of viruses. It's true, your PC is infected - but the
infection is actually the warning itself!
In this article, I'll describe one of the newest rogue
anti-malware threats and tell you how to find out whether a pop-up
warning is a fake.
Fortunately, there are excellent tools for eliminating this
growing threat, so keep reading.
Rogue anti-malware - many names, many
disguises
The other night someone called with upsetting news. "My XP
computer has 37 viruses on it. How do I get rid of them?"
She was worried about viruses - I was more concerned about the way she
discovered them. Let me explain.
She was a victim of so-called rogue anti-malware - malicious
software that often comes disguised as an antivirus warning on your PC
screen. Names for this class of malicious app include scareware, fake
AV, and some labels unfit for print here.

"If God has guided you here and has given you the virtue to do service here, and has given you that chance, then don't waste it. It's a place to gain and to be what is yours to be. Therefore, I say to you that take the very earth of this place and put it on your forehead. It will rewrite your destiny."
