Honoring Long Time Contributors
Sikh Dharma Tiles

We would like to honor those individuals of the community who over the years have consistently been able to honor SSS's hukam that every adult is responsible to pay ashram dues of $100 per person. Thank you for your sacrifice, gift and giving.

Thank you,

 Why we give:
"Each month it is a struggle to decide which bills to pay. There are months where the expected incoming cash flow is lower than the expected outgoing cash flow.  This has been a challenge for 22 years living here at the mother ashram.  When I confront my fear and give what I can to both Community Growth Fund and Dasvandh, all the rest gets taken care of. I feel better.  I feel more secure and protected. And over time the giving becomes easier and greater.  It is only a relation-
ship between me and my higher self.  No one else. For me it is one aspect of my lifes' sadhana."

"Whosoever will serve this house, he shall be served forever."

Kirn Kaur Ashram Gift Shop
Now Open!

The community Ashram Gift Shop is now open and is a success. For years the community has thought it would be a great idea to have a gift shop that would serve our community members needs and serve as a fantastic resource for those visiting the Mother Ashram.  With the Holidays here, check out the store for that special gift. All of the stores profit goes directly into the Ashram community growth fund. Please come to enjoy the space and give your feedback to help make it an ongoing success.

I value being a part of this community because:

It's like a big, extended family. There's always something to do or someone to hang out with. I like that the peer pressure around here generally moves in a positive direction.

Something interesting you may not know about me:
I can recite the alphabet backwards.

I woud also like to share:
Going to India for the first time in February!

Welcome, Harsimrit Kaur!

Where from?
Crystal Lake, Illinois (northern suburb of Chicago). I am so blessed to be here!

Why am I here?
My intention began to further develop and foster a beautiful relationship with God and Guru. Miraculously, my world turned, opened up and here I am...:)

Family and work?
My sweet daughter, Ramajot Kaur (11), will be joining me here on her breaks from school. I gratefully work from home for McKesson Corporation as a Triage Nurse, giving medical advise to patients. I am also a Kundalini and Hatha Yoga Teacher.

Now what?
I absolutely love being close to the Gurdwara and sharing blissful morning sadhana with all of you. Looking forward to enjoying the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains and desert as well as learning and serving all that I can from and for this gracious and giving Sangat.

Sat Nam,
Harsimrit Kaur

Thank you for your selfless service!

This month we would like to honor Har Pal Singh Khalsa. In addition to all of the seva he does for the ashram, he recently took on organizing help for community members that could use support with projects that they otherwise could not tackle themselves. He has joined forces with the Hearts and Hands core of volunteers group to help even more people. When he shows up for the job everyone looks to him as the leader because of his enthusiasm, efficiency, and determination to get the job done.  He was quoted as saying, "This is so fulfilling. It makes me want to do more and more to help." Thank you for all of your heart driven seva, Harpal Singh!

Community Growth Fund Update
By Gurujohn K. Khalsa

I would like to take a few minutes of your time to tell you about the ashram community growth funds.  First of all, I want to thank everyone for their generosity and spirit of giving.  You are truly among the pillars of our community, and your commitment is deeply appreciated.

This was a year of some very large improvements, which community growth fund, along with many individuals and other community organizations, helped to manifest.  We installed a new well and a wonderful new septic system, we have a new lawn on our quad, and we created a new position to help generate new ideas and new prosperity for our community.  Of course we maintained and supported all of our ongoing positions for the service and beautification of Hacienda de Guru Ram Das as well.

We need your continued support in order to keep up and manifest more projects for the grace and beauty of our beloved ashram.  Unfortunately for the past couple of months our contributions have fallen short of our goals, so I want to encourage you to reach deep and to give as much as you can during December.  Let us work together to make our fourth quarter a prosperous one, so that we can go forward into 2010 in excellent financial shape.

Of course, the best way to give is to commit to a monthly amount and to sign up for EFT payments, but we are grateful for however and whatever you can contribute.  Together, our large and small contributions can add up to cover everything we need to ensure that Hacienda de Guru Ram continues to flourish and grow to better serve all who come here.  Thank you all so much, and God bless you.

April 6, 1924 - November 13, 2009

Bruce King was a life-long friend of Yogi Ji and of the Sikh community here in Espanola, NM.  His warm southern drawl, and good sense of humor made him a good match for Yogi Ji's quick wit and charm.  The friendship he developed lasted a span of over 30 years and he always was present at Yogi Ji's birthday parties and many dinners at the Ranch.

He was a wonderful addition to our extended ashram family and will be sorely missed.  We send our prayers and blessings to his family and friends who will miss him most.

Moving Smoothly to Windows 7
By Guruka Singh

Wow!  This year went by fast, didn't it? I am personally very grateful to serve our Sangat by sharing my computer experience and knowledge with everyone.  It is a great joy to serve you. The big news in computing this year was the Windows 7 rollout in October and many of you have come to me with questions about Win7, so I thought I'd roll them all up into one column and my hope is that you will see the answer to your own questions here.

This Month: All your Windows 7 Questions Answered!
The Windows 7 rollout has gone extraordinarily well, with millions of machines upgraded in just a few weeks. Are you using Windows 7 yet?  Let me know how you like it.

Hey, where did Windows 7 put my games?
Have you upgraded to Windows 7 already and when you click Start, Games, you can't see any games? Here's how to bring them back. Click Start, Control Panel, Programs (in Category view), Programs and Features. Select Turn Windows features on or off in the left pane, make sure the box next to Games is checked, and click OK. The games will then appear on the Start menu, right where they belong.

"If God has guided you here and has given you the virtue to do service here, and has given you that chance, then don't waste it. It's a place to gain and to be what is yours to be. Therefore, I say to you that take the very earth of this place and put it on your forehead. It will rewrite your destiny."
