We would like to honor those individuals of the community who over the years have consistently been able to honor SSS's hukam that every adult is responsible to pay ashram dues of $100 per person. Thank you for your sacrifice, gift and giving.

You in Community July 2009
Community is our collective giving, loving, sharing and growing. This new bi-monthly bulletin celebrates and highlights the the many individuals and projects that create and sustain our beloved mother ashram. As we give, we do receive. Here's celebrating you in community! |
I love being part of community because....
Community to me is family. It is knowing that there will be someone to help you if you need it. That a friend's got your back. That you might get a gentle push or shove from someone when you didn't know that you needed it but it got you just in time. It is having lots of people to make cookies for. It is having like minded parents and kids for my kids to grow up with and have fun with. It is a safe place to be and live. It's a place where there's always something going on and some fun to be had somewhere. Community is something that I hold as very precious and am so grateful for.
Something people might not know about me: I am the first child born into 3HO.
I would also like to share: I am a Doctor Of Oriental Medicine and I practice at GRD Health Center in Espanola. I specialize in Pain Relief for the entire family and Women's Health Care. I utilize many different tools such as Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Nutritional Counseling, and much more to help people achieve optimum health. I would love to offer you a free consultation. You can call me at 753-3369. I will also be offering a free Vitamin B12 injection with an Acupuncture treatment until September 30, 2009.

This Months Featured Unsung Hero
Thank you for your selfless service!
We would like to honor Guru Meher Kaur Khalsa, Jr. as this month's Unsung Hero. She has selflessly served our community in many ways over the years. For over 17 years she has held the space and put together the HGRD Ashram Newsletter. She has spent countless hours collecting stories, pictures and articles that she compiled each month to bring you the latest ashram news. On top of that she combined her talents with Hargobind Singh to create our amazing community website. The website is so well thought out, looks beautiful and is always kept up-to-date with the latest community details and events. Thank you Guru Meher Kaur, for your selfless service and always going way beyond the call of duty to serve us in this way. May you always be blessed.

Your Community Grassroots Hearts & Hands
Hearts and Hands is a small grassroots group that has formed within our sangat to help serve the growing needs of our community. It began when one of our community members became ill. They coordinated help getting to doctors' appointments, preparation and delivery of meals, shopping, errands and other helpful tasks. Since that time they have helped a number of sangat members when they have had an accident, became ill, or have had surgery.
Up until now they have been a small core group of five: Hari Charn Kaur, Sangeet Kaur, Sat Kartar Kaur, Sat Sangeet Kaur and Kulwant Kaur.
Hearts and Hands wants to grow to meet the demands of the time. As a result of this, would like more people involved. There are many different ways to plug in - being part of the core group, heading up a particular area, such as fund-raising, website or networking, helping out with writing projects, phone calls - just to name a few. And there is a broad range in the level of commitment, from several hours a week to one or two hours a month, or less. Hearts and hands can also accept tax-deductible donations to help fund our programs.

"If God has guided you here and has given you the virtue to do service here, and has given you that chance, then don't waste it. It's a place to gain and to be what is yours to be. Therefore, I say to you that take the very earth of this place and put it on your forehead. It will rewrite your destiny."
