On October 16, 2012 ATRC and the Disability and Communication Access Board (DCAB) are sponsoring the workshop "Cyber Accessibility," hosted by MataiNet at the Japanese Cultural Center, Honolulu, Hawaii.

This event is designed for managers from HR, Legal, Contracts, IS/IT, and any department head who owns a website for clients, potential employees and business partners to help them realize the importance of offering equal access to internet and mobile apps to seniors and people with disabilities.

The reality is people with disabilities have been locked out of internet and mobile revolution despite the legitimacy of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and tremendous efforts of the advocates for their rights and numerous complaints and lawsuits for cyber accessibility discrimination against organizations.

ATRC, together with other sponsors and MataiNet, hopes that this event will significantly contribute to raising public awareness and creating change for the better.

A BIG MAHALO
to all the Participants, Sponsors,
Vendors  and Volunteers who attended
the 1st Annual Mokoli'i Paddle Classic!

ATRC, in collaboration with the University of Hawaii at Manoa's Center for Disability Studies, successfully held the 1st Annual Mokoli'i Paddle Classic in Kualoa Beach Park, Oahu on September 15, 2012.

There were approximately 100 paddlers, including a few high profile athletes such as Noa Ginella, Aaron Napoleon, vendors, and a great number of volunteers participating in the event to support the people of Hawaii with disabilities.  This creative and fun event had reached out to the community for their support while spreading awareness about the needs of individuals with disabilities in the area of Assistive Technology.

The Council Chair of the City and County of Honolulu, Ernest Y. Martin, presented a Certificate in honoring and recognizing ATRC's on the occasion of the 1st Annual "Paddling for Possibilities" at the closing ceremony.
