Movie and concert in the park this weekend

The Aliso Viejo Community Association (AVCA) will host a Movie in the Park Friday, July 9 featuring the PG-rated "Monsters vs. Aliens." The fun at Grand Park in the Aliso Viejo Town Center starts at 7:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at dusk.
On Sunday, July 11, make plans to return to Grand Park for a Summer Concert featuring live entertainment and fun the whole family is sure to enjoy.
Whiplash, a band made up of local youth ages 8 to 13, will delight the masses from 4:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. with their talents and "rock 'n' roll tunes. Entertainers Common Sense will follow with surf/reggae music from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The fun-filled summer concert will feature complimentary face painting and an opportunity drawing.

referral system

On Wednesday, Steve Lemler from the non-profit 2-1-1 Orange County gave the City Council a presentation about the service that offers human service information and referrals to facilities such as the City's Family Resource Center using an easy 3-digit number available 24/7 in more than 150 languages. 2-1-1 Orange County provides a comprehensive information and referral system that is a single point of referral to more than 1,500 member agencies and 4,500 programs in the county. Callers seeking assistance dial the toll-free number and are connected with information and referral specialists who use a robust database to provide information on services such as food, shelter, prenatal care, workforce development, government assistance programs, access to health insurance programs, urgent care, prevention and safety services, child development, disaster response and more.
