Dog look-alike contest during annual DAWG Walk Saturday
| Do you look like your dog? Perhaps it's an uncanny physical resemblance or a similar mannerism that makes you and Fido a good pair. Whether you share the same hair color or well-rounded belly, you and your pet could win pet products and bragging rights in the "Bowser Owner Look-Alike" contest during the 16th annual DAWG Walk, Pet Faire and Dog Adoption Event on Saturday. The event, along the Village Green at Mission Viejo's Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, is hosted by Mission Viejo Animal Services Center and Dedicated Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) to benefit Aliso Viejo, Mission Viejo and Laguna Niguel homeless animals. Along with the Bowser Owner Look-Alike contest, pet owners and their canine pals can enter the Best Trick and Best Kisser contests that always draw a big crowd. The DAWG Walk, Pet Faire and Dog Adoption event includes an impressive display of K9 Athletes in Action, exhibitors with unique products and services, adoptable pets and raffle prizes. Registration opens at 7 a.m. for those who did not pre-register for the DAWG Walk along Oso Creek Trail. The walk kicks off at 8:30 a.m. Online registration at www.dawg.org is available through Tuesday. At 8 a.m., the Pet Faire opens to the public, with pet contests starting at 9:30 a.m. The Disc Dogs performance starts at 10 a.m., which will be followed by the DAWG Walk grand prize, pledge and raffle winners being announced.
