Annual DAWG Walk will benefit homeless animals
|
The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center, which services Aliso Viejo, and Dedicated Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) on June 26 will host the 16th Annual DAWG Walk, Pet Faire and Dog Adoption Event along the Village Green at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center in Mission Viejo.
The fun-filled event, which takes place from 7 a.m. to noon, includes an impressive display of K9 Athletes in Action, pet contests, exhibitors with unique products and services, adoptable pets and raffle prizes.
All proceeds benefit Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel and Mission Viejo homeless animals. DAWG has provided life-saving medical treatment and surgeries to more than 10,000 animals - including Freckles the dog and Big Mac the cat - who arrived at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center in need of care.
Freckles, a sweet, affectionate cocker mix, came to the center with a serious and painful deep ear infection. DAWG paid for her extensive treatment and Freckles will soon have a new home.
Big Mac, a loving 20-pound cat, was brought into the center with severe injuries that likely occurred after being hit by a car. Big Mac had survived on the streets for several days with a shattered jawbone and fractured cheekbone. DAWG paid for a specialized orthopedic surgery and post surgery care. Big Mac is now ready to be placed in a permanent home.
These are just two examples of the many animals DAWG has committed to helping. The public is invited to help DAWG carry on its mission of providing life-saving medical care to homeless animals by signing up for the Walk on June 26.
