Travers Realty wins first place in Aliso Viejo Community Cup

Newport Beach-based Travers Realty took home the "Perpetual Trophy" from the 7th Annual Aliso Viejo Community Cup on June 4 at the Aliso Viejo Country Club.

The Aliso Viejo Community Cup is a fun-filled event hosted by the Aliso Viejo Community Foundation. With a theme in step with Aliso Viejo's 2010 celebration of the Year of the Youth, "Eight-TEEN Holes of Golf," net proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Aliso Viejo Boys & Girls Club and its efforts to launch a Keystone Leadership Teen Program. The program focuses on leadership, education, career development, economic/political awareness and social recreation elements that are crucial to pointing teens into a positive direction.

In addition to supporting the community, 124 golfers this year competed for coveted titles and the grand "Perpetual Trophy." Each year the trophy is awarded to the team with the lowest score. The Travers Realty team consisting of Michael Beattie, Steve Judge, Brendan Judge and Brian Harnetiaux took that first-place honor.

Intended to memorialize the beginning of a new tradition in Aliso Viejo, the steering committee in 2004 selected the handsome award to carry the winning team's name inscribed on the trophy base from year to year. The cup is prominently displayed at City Hall throughout the year as a tribute to the sponsors who share in the foundation's and City's vision to sustain a high quality of service to the children and families in town.

Net proceeds from the community golf tournament will be announced at the City Council's July 21 meeting. The Council meets at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 12 Journey.
