Low-cost Pet & Vet clinic Saturday
|
The City's Family Resource Center on Saturday, Aug. 1 will host a low-cost vaccination clinic for dogs and cats from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at 24671 Via Iglesia.
Vaccinating pets helps to ward off disease and illness, veterinarians say. Though they are not required by law, except for the dog rabies vaccination, immunizing pets is recommended for the well being of animals.
Dog vaccines include the four-in-one vaccine (DA2PP) and the Bordetella vaccine. Cats vaccines include the three-in-one vaccine (FVRCP).
Dog and cat rabies vaccines are $6 each. DA2PP and FVRCP vaccines are $14 each. Bordetella vaccine is $11 each.
Pet owners can also have their animals micro-chipped for $28.

Collection center closed through mid-September
|
The county's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center in Irvine will be closed from Aug. 2 to Sept. 14 for pavement rehabilitation.
Residents can take their household hazardous waste products to the San Juan Capistrano facility at 32250 La Pata Avenue.
Many of the products we use for housework, gardening, home improvement or car maintenance contain hazardous materials that endanger our health as well as pollute the environment.
Household hazardous waste products include paint; batteries; herbicides and pesticides; automotive fluids and products; grease and rust solvents; pool and spa chemicals; fluorescent lamps and other products that should not go into the landfill.
The center is generally open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 714-834-4000.
