Contestants sought for July 4th Apple Pie "throwdown"

The Aliso Viejo Community Association (AVCA) is seeking aspiring pastry chefs who can whip up the tastiest pies to compete in its "Homemade Apple Pie Baking Contest" at the July 4th celebration.
Contestants must enter the pie-baking challenge by June 26. Participants must live in the City of Aliso Viejo and/or be dues-paying AVCA members.
The annual July 4th bash is from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Grand Park and will feature live entertainment, bounce houses, carnival games, food for purchase and a spectacular fireworks show at dusk. The City will host a booth, which will feature information about upcoming events.
