Blood drive, marrow donor event at OCFA Fire Station 57 Wednesday

The Orange County Fire Authority is joining forces with the National Marrow Donor Program, Donate Life and the Red Cross on Wednesday to host a blood drive and marrow donor registry event.

The "Be a Hero Become a Donor" event is from 1 to 7 p.m. in Aliso Viejo at 57 Journey.

Residents can donate blood and learn about the need for donors in all capacities. To join the "Be the Match Registry" requires a simple cheek swab and some paperwork. Individuals are placed on the registry, where 6,000 patients a day are searching for their match.
