Public invited May 23 to grand opening of City's Aquatic, Conference Centers

The public on Saturday, May 23 is invited to a special dedication ceremony, marking the official grand opening of the Aliso Viejo Aquatic and Conference centers.

The City-owned facilities, which are operated by ClubCorp, include a resort-style swimming complex and an impressive meeting space designed for weddings, birthdays, corporate meetings, parties and more.

The special event takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes free swimming and self-guided tours immediately following the dedication ceremony at about 11 a.m.

Mayor Donald Garcia will join his council colleagues in cutting the ribbons for the facilities in a special dedication that will include local Boy Scouts, students and others. Free hot dogs, soda and chips will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Aquatic Center snack bar, while the Conference Center will offer free delectable dessert samples from its catering menu. The Conference Center will also display sample table settings, menu prices and more.

AYSO Plus tryouts May 12-13

Youngsters interested in soccer are invited to take part in AYSO Plus tryouts May 12-13 at Aliso Viejo Community Park.

AYSO Plus was developed for U10 through U14 (under 10-14) players with advanced soccer skills. Players compete in single-age divisions against teams from the central and southern parts of the county.
