City of Aliso Viejo
Proposed water rate increase, conservation meetings on tap

Aliso Viejo's water supplier, Moulton Niguel Water (MNWD), will host an informal Water Conservation meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 7.

The meeting follows the district's recent implementation of a mandatory "Level 2 Water Alert" condition that goes into effect June 1 and comes before a May 21 public hearing for proposed water and sewer rate increases.

Moulton Niguel's board of directors adopted a resolution last month declaring a Water Supply Response Level 2 condition, which applies when consumers need to reduce their water usage by up to 20 percent. Residential and commercial customers will only be able to water three days a week, with Monday, Thursday and Saturday or Sunday being the permitted watering days for Aliso Viejo residents. However, other watering restrictions exist.

The public is also invited to attend Moulton Niguel's May 21 rate increase hearing. Residents will have the opportunity to speak about the proposed water and sewer rate increases before the board makes a decision.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. at the MNWD headquarters located at 27500 La Paz Road in Laguna Niguel.
