Gail Faulker
"Every Little Detail"

March 27- April 21

First Friday, April 6: 5-8 pm

Her muse is a stickler for accuracy, says Ventura artist Gail Faulkner, which is why her upcoming solo show at the Buenaventura Gallery is titled "Every Little Detail." Faulkner paints crisp watercolor still life that she composes from the fruits of nature and her own eclectic collection of baskets and other containers. Capturing minute details and rendering light and shadow are favorite parts of her creative process, Faulkner says, but also the most challenging. She's collected numerous awards, including first place in watercolors three times running at the Santa Paula Society for the Arts' annual show.  (More)

"Palette of Nature"

April 24 - May 19

Reception: Sat., April 28: 4-7 pm

First Friday, May 4: 5-8pm

This exhibition shows Christine Leong's recent works on wild life, seascapes, landscapes and floral. Christine transforms her love of nature on rice paper and silk. She depicts her love of wild life in a traditional Chinese style that transcends both Asian and Western techniques. Borrowing from centuries of painting masters, Christine recreates the flowing and mystic rhythm of simple and moving Chinese watercolors. (More)

Hanson imgBrent Hanson

"Saturation"

May 2 - 28, 2012

Artist's Reception: Friday, May 4, 5-8 pm

Brent Hanson's paintings reflect the dichotomy of the peaks and valleys of his life experiences.  On one hand, using vibrant color, light and shadow, non-representational abstraction and abstraction of natural beauty he conveys a sense of hope, richness, and playfulness.   On the other hand, he uses black and white abstraction, along with surrealism to express dreams and emotions resulting from life's challenges... work stress, loss of loved ones, and coping with his own demons.
