Established Masters and New Faces
Greetings!

Renowned artists Gerd Koch and Carole Milton carry us into Spring and we are honored that their first ever joint exhibit will be held in our downtown gallery. And the 2012 Student Scholarship Exhibit opens soon at the Harbor Village Gallery, bringing us a glimpse of the future. BAA's purpose is to bring the best to our patrons and community, and to encourage emerging artists along their way to mastery.

There's always something new to see, and several venues to explore -- Buenaventura Gallery, Harbor Village Gallery, and Community Memorial Hospital.  For more information please visit our website at BuenaventuraGallery.org.

First Fridays Ventura Gallery Crawl: Friday, March 2, 5-8pm

Join Gerd Koch for a special talk during First Friday.

Over decades as life partners and art colleagues, Ventura artists Carole Milton and Gerd Koch have exhibited their works widely, but never at the same place and time.

That situation is rectified with "Gerd Koch and Carole Milton: Together," a joint show at the Buenaventura Gallery.

Koch and Milton each paint brilliantly colorful abstract visions, primarily in oil on canvas and often large, though their subjects and processes diverge widely. They will exhibit some recent works and some picked from their pasts in this show. It's planned as sort of a grace note in their harmonious partnership, in celebration of love, art and their shared history. Longtime Ventura College art teacher Koch, who was a founding member of the Buenaventura Art Association (as well as many other local arts organizations), says the gallery's intimate surroundings fit the "Together" theme well. Gail Faulker
"Every Little Detail"

March 27- April 21
Opening Reception: March 31, 4-7
First Friday, April 6: 5-8 pm

Her muse is a stickler for accuracy, says Ventura artist Gail Faulkner, which is why her upcoming solo show at the Buenaventura Gallery is titled "Every Little Detail." Faulkner paints crisp watercolor still life that she composes from the fruits of nature and her own eclectic collection of baskets and other containers. Capturing minute details and rendering light and shadow are favorite parts of her creative process, Faulkner says, but also the most challenging. She's collected numerous awards, including first place in watercolors three times running at the Santa Paula Society for the Arts' annual show.  (More)
