New Venues: Our Artists Shine All Over Town
Greetings!

Things are gearing up for a summertime explosion of the arts in Ventura.
Like springtime blossoms, art is popping up all over town for BAA artists. Our current and upcoming solo shows include sumptuous and innovative painting, photography and sculpture. We're introducing a new feature at the Buenaventura Gallery, "Meet Our Artists", a monthly mini-exhibit and personal encounter with recently featured solo artists. And the Ventura County Arts Council has mounted an exclusive BAA-only exhibit in their 4th floor gallery at Government Center.

There's always something new to see, and FOUR venues to explore -- Buenaventura Gallery, Harbor Village Gallery, Ventura County Government Center, and Community Memorial Hospital.  For more information please visit our website at buenaventuragallery.org.

Virginia Beale

 "Recent Works"

April 26-May 21

Opening Reception:

Sat., April 30, 4-7 pm

Virginia Beale believes that paintings are a form of language.  When looking at a painting, it can elicit a dialogue between itself and the one looking at it, and with that language, the viewer does not need to know what the artist was thinking or feeling when the painting was created. The painting itself has formed the dialogue, and has taken the viewer to their own experiences and memories.  That is what she believes makes art so powerful. More

"Eclectic Stone" will showcase realistic, stylized and abstract sculptures: forms inspired by humans and animals and forms reflecting the organic and fluid curves and textures found in nature. "The Fermented Fruit"

April 6-May 16, 2011

For her Fermented Fruit series, Schwitters incorporates colorful bold graphic design elements into photographs, producing a body of work exploring the subject of Wine Art.  Inspired by colorful concert T-shirts, Dia de los Muertos, and ethnic hues, Schwitters creates psychedelic delights of powerful hypnotic energies of color. The artist notes: "The visual fermentation of my art creates such a powerful hypnotic trance that it engages the viewer with fruitful artistic delights, which will intoxicate and seduce them to buy my art."
