Greetings!
Lots of holiday cheer to behold at the Buenaventura Art Association Galleries this month. It's the perfect time to find that little gem you've been wanting, for yourself and for gift giving, at the Small Images shows. In addition, the Artisan Store at the Harbor Village Gallery is featuring holiday themed fine craft items, and our Third Annual Ornament Competition. Proceeds from ornament sales are donated 100% to FoodShare of Ventura County.
BAA would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting our member artists throughout this past year. We are a nonprofit cooperative whose goal is to present to our community the excellence in artistic endeavor that we see every single day in the work our members show at our galleries. For more information please visit our website at buenaventuragallery.org.

 Gail Pidduck
"A Place in the Choir"
Inspired by a folk song of the 1970s by Bill Staines "A Place in the Choir," creatures of the farm and home snuggle, squawk, waddle, bark and purr themselves into Pidduck's oil paintings. With a ruralist focus on the countryside, away from horns beeping and a hum of modernity, Pidduck has created a collection of new works with fauna as her theme. Participants of Pidduck's chorus of creatures are furry, feathery and familiar friends. Pidduck grew up in a farming family in Santa Paula and continues to live the rural life. Devoted to celebrating and spreading rural consciousness, Pidduck and local photographer John Nichols began the Ag Art Alliance in 2007 to help promote all facets of agriculture and its value through the eyes of artists. Scott O'Connor
"Blacklight Galaxsea"
Dec. 1, - Jan. 19 Reception: Friday, Dec. 3, 5-8 pm
Blacklight Galaxsea is a ticket for a real good time. A blast from the past or a sneak peak into the future, this is how we step into a world of imagination. O'Connor's devotion to be as original as he can has arrived and materialized behind the black curtain. Entering into the space O'Connor created for your enjoyment will leave a lasting impression especially with the 3-D glasses he provides. O'Connor builds his paintings with depth and lots of texture. His thick colorful palate used for Galaxsea is in acrylic paint, because "oil doesn't glow in the dark." The neon and fluorescent colors used in his underwater, intergalactic subjects are displayed under blacklight to feel the full effect of the glowing energy illuminating from paintings. Laughter Yoga Instructor: Joan Woodward Tuesday, Dec. 7, 10-11 am at the Buenaventura Gallery
Laughter Yoga combines unconditional laughter with pranayama (yogic breathing). It's Fun. It's Easy! When you laugh, your brain releases serotonin, dopamine and endorphins. It also relieves anxiety and stress and can even lower blood pressure. The oxygen moving through the body allows for a clearer mind and brighter mood. The exercises are not as important as the spirit of playfulness you bring to them. Learn to live your life with greater playfulness and fun. Group size: 6-12 people. Cost: $5 at the door
