Greetings!
Sometimes it takes a little patience to endure Ventura's summer morning fog, but we are often joyously rewarded with the brilliant skies and breezes of summer on the coast. Come down to the Buenaventura Art Association's galleries and discover the vibrancy, variety and affordability of art created by our local artists. Bring a little sunshine home and hang it on your wall! And remember, payment plans are always available.

COMING SOON ...Darlene Dewing
"Favorite Places"
July 20 - Aug. 14, 2010 Reception: Sat. July 24 4-7 pm
Dewing explores western America with an adventurous goal; to find the next moment she will capture on paper. The thrill of the hunt calls for early morning drives, weekend get-aways and stepping into nature, away form the daily routine we keep ourselves busy with. Dewing knows to keep her eyes peeled and her camera at hand for the moment is not as obvious or easy to capture as you hope. "It might be something subtle and if you blink too soon or turn away, you just might miss it," observes the artist. The landscapes Dewing creates in pastels are more like nature portraits. She gathers information on the soul of a place and transfers its likeness to paper with buttery colors which volley between the definition of painting and drawing. This spirit is the moment Dewing hunts for. (Click here for more.)Visit with Featured Artist Susan Seaberry at the Buenaventura Gallery during Ventura's First Friday Gallery Crawl July 2, 5-8 pm. waves are shown in their spectacular beauty through David Orias's lens.

shown through it or reflected upon it." Orias's photographs display the

dawn, capturing warm comforting colors, while using a slow shutter
speed and camera motion, adding a unique and soft touch to his work.
