Coming in March:
Debi Nowak-Hawkes
Jewelry Design and Portraiture Debi Nowak-Hawkes is
a fine artist specializing in portraits and pearl jewelry. Her "passion for freshwater
pearls" has led her to make one of a kind bracelets and earrings. No two are alike. "I look at each pearl for its unique
qualities and potential, much like a sculptor looks at a stone they are about
to carve." Debi's portrait work is done primarily in
charcoal and oil, and she has the ability to capture a likeness and personality in
her portraits. Debi happily accepts
commissions for her portraits and pearl jewelry. Drop by the Harbor Gallery in March and you just might catch her doing portraits in the gallery. She will also meet there by appointment. Email her at debi@dn-h.com.BAA members interested in being a featured artisan at the HVG, please contact Store Coordinator Nina Danza at jimninadanza@juno.com. |

| Greetings! |
Our Priceless Volunteers
My first big Virtual HUG goes to the BEAUTIFICATION
TEAM 2010!(Their names are listed below) Olympic Gold Medals to all of you for whipping those HVG walls into
shape! Another huge big hug and thank you to Linda Cowell and her husband Dan for
their hours at the HVG and help with keeping the volunteers busy and
productive - volunteers like you are PRICELESS! Volunteers like OURS are
priceless!!! With money and the economy
on the tip of everyone's wallet and tongue these days, the time the BAA
volunteers give to receptions, exhibits, gallery hosting, cleaning, etc. is
truly a gift. Regina, Christy and I
just can't do it all! Oh boy how we try, but any time you give saves the
Association in the check book! And did you know that when we apply for a grant, the number of volunteer hours our members contribute is an important consideration? It's another way that your hours help the entire organization. Of course your time is priceless, but I have to
take a moment to also express the importance of your friends. The next best
thing to giving your time, is talking about our galleries to the people you
meet. Everyday we run into folks, neighbors and friends you might not have seen
in a while or in months. Do you tell them about the new shows? How about the
Artisan Store at the HVG and the jewelry and gifts they could give to their
special someone? Invite them to a
reception or to browse though a gallery after lunch or coffee. Spread the good art, spread the word. Let
your own knowledge of the art and artists be the influence they might need to
stop in again or maybe even tell one of their friends! Cheers, hugs to you all and
see you at the gallery!Emily Thompson, Executive Director

 Edwin Maltz
"Do Faces Tell A Story?"
Architectural Fantasies and Portraits Feb. 2 - 27Maltz brings a harmonious connection between the
structure of place and the soft graceful lines of the figures of his focus. The
two subjects intermingle with each other as a storybook does with words and
illustration. The narrative among his strokes, lines and shadows of his images,
capture our interest and lure you in for a closer listen. Many of Maltz's images begin in the studio
or on a drafting board, studies of a model or a place he's visited, perhaps a
European piazza from a travel abroad or a well rehearsed and translated passage
from a history book. From there here
takes us to a place from the past or to a place we can visit from his own
imagination. (Click here for more info.)
