Scott finds inspiration in many different things.
Nature is probably his biggest interest. He also finds inspiration straight out
of his imagination. No matter where the inspiration comes from, Scott's biggest
passion in life is painting and creating art and his only hope is that you
enjoy looking at it as much as he enjoyed creating it. Scott brings the Artisan Store a wide variety of unique items, including driftwood frames, embellished paint brushes, coasters, mugs and mouse pads adorned with his art. |

Art Supply Store in Ventura
|
Ventura Creates! Support Your Local Art Supply Store
A plea from artist Ginny Furmanski
The newly-opened art supply store
Ventura Creates! is floundering with almost no patronage. All
artists need to get over there and buy something, even if only a box of
crayons. We did that here in Ojai to keep Ojai Creates open. There
have been so many times that I have needed things at the last minute and have
run down to Ojai Creates--they have saved me!! We so need an
art supply store in Ventura, I hope we can all work to keep Ventrua Creates
open! In the 2000 block of Thompson Blvd, in Ventura.

| Greetings! |
 Twenty Ten!
Another decade of creativity is ahead of us. Thank you all who entered the Annual Open Competition! This show was (is) a great success and if you only saw it at the reception then you should surely stop by again to see the work without a hundred people in your way!
To the those whose art work was not selected...have faith! this was ONE man's vision as to what one show should look like. His opinions are just as subjective as your own and I encourage you to continue to submit your art work to AS MANY shows as you can! We place calls to artists in our newsletter often to encourage you to spread the love! Many Art Groups/Associations/Organizations around this area are looking for artists' work. Keep an eye out -- the more you submit your work, the more your art work will be seen by other artists and potential buyers. And you will be inspired by other artists in return. Entering shows can become mini assignments that keep you creating new pieces! Your next assignments are: two Member Shows at the end of the month. Bring In's are: HVG 1/25 & 26 and BvG 1/31 & 2/1 and the Communtity Memorial Hospital Show "New Beginnings", submissions due via email by 2/4 and you will correctly know how to digitally submit your work after taking Sarah Kalvin's Workshop!
See you there!

"Do Faces Tell A Story?"
Architectural Fantasies and Portraits
Feb. 2 - 27
Reception: Sat., Feb. 6, 4-7 pmMaltz brings a harmonious connection between the
structure of place and the soft graceful lines of the figures of his focus. The
two subjects intermingle with each other as a storybook does with words and
illustration. The narrative among his strokes, lines and shadows of his images,
capture our interest and lure you in for a closer listen. Many of Maltz's images begin in the studio
or on a drafting board, studies of a model or a place he's visited, perhaps a
European piazza from a travel abroad or a well rehearsed and translated passage
from a history book. From there here
takes us to a place from the past or to a place we can visit from his own
imagination. (Click here for more info.) |

Join the BAA Marketing Committee
|
Help Spread the Good Word About BAA
As most of you are aware, the horrible state of the
Nation's, State and Local Economy has created a significant decrease in Art
Sales in general and for the BAA in particular. As a part of the Strategic Plan
approved by the Board in January of 2009, Advertising the Galleries and our
Artists was a very high priority in the Plan. To that end the Board has
established a Marketing Committee to spear head these efforts.
Gordon Bohn has agreed to head that Committee and could use
some energetic and creative members who can think out side of the box to assist
in this effort. The initial focus will be in the following areas:
- Develop
an Advertising Strategy with achievable goals for the year 2010;
- Enhance
BAA as a whole and individual artists in particular through the use of
Public Affairs video productions in concert with the local Cable Networks;
- Locating
local and State wide opportunities for Grant Applications that if
successful could infuse necessary specific purpose revenue into our
budget.
Any member with an interest/experience/ or just plain ideas
will be welcome. Gordon can be reached at 805-228-4646 or gbohn35@cablerocket.com.
