| TRIP TO THE CHANNEL ISLANDS! |
Wednesday, September 16 BAA is going on a day trip to Scorpion Anchorage on Santa Cruz Island. Cost is $45 per person and pre-paid reservations are needed to attend. Email Emily for questions. or call 644-2750 or 648-1235 for more info.
Meet at Island Packers, Ventura Harbor at 8:15 am with supplies for the day ( your art supplies, your lunch, water, sunscreen, hat, good walking shoes and layers of clothes for weather changes) Trip will return to mainland approx. 5pm.

Lois Bloom received a 4th place award at the Ventura County. Fair for her painting, Forgotten Clay Pots". Vonder Gray has paintings at the Crowne Plaza and Sea Breeze Gallery. Gina Niebergall and Darlene Dewing are at Fox Fine Jewelry from Sept 10 - Nov. 9. Reception is Saturday 12 from 6 - 9pm.
Kay Zetlmaier received 5th place for her oil painting Sierra Retreat House Vista, Malibu at the Professional Arts Gallery at the Ventura County Fair. The Inkspots of San Buenaventura include BAA members: Karen Brown, Donna Carver, Ginny Furmanski, Judy Gibbs and Leslie Plimpton. They have a show at 255/Sea Breeze Gallery. Sept. 10 through Oct. 10. Opening reception is Sat. Sept. 12, 2009 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. The gallery will be open for First Friday Ventura Art Crawl. Louisa Wallace Jacobs was juried into the VCAC Open Show at the Ventura County Government Center in July. She exhibited from her "Rock Series" in the group show, "7 Women:7 Visions", at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery thru July. Her painting, "Pear Triptych", was selected to show in the ACCV Art Organization Member's Invitational at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts in Thousand Oaks running thru September. Another painting, "Precarious Pear #1", was accepted into the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Barnsdall Park - "Open Call - 2009" exhibit running thru September. Louisa acted as Juror of Awards for the Plein Air Open Juried Exhibit at the Ventura County Maritime Museum in June. Also at the Ventura County Maritime Museum, she will be included in the California Gold Coast Watercolor Society Commemorative Exhibit, August thru September. Helle Scharling-Todd has been selected to show posters of her mosaic work at Port Hueneme Library and at an international Exhibit of Mosaics integrated in Architecture, Ravenna, Italy in October 09. Irena Jablonski's painting "Prickly in Long Canyon" is included into TAG 2009 California Open Exhibit. The TAG Gallery (taggallery.net) is located on Santa Monica Blvd. The juror was Michael Zakian of Weissman Museum at the Pepperdine University. The exhibit runs August 19 - September 4, the reception is on Saturday, August 22, 5 -8 pm. Phyllis Doyon is giving a Chine Colle` Workshop on Sun, Sept 6 and a Collage Workshop Sat, Sept 26 at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, 2331 Borchard Rd. Artists Lee Hodges and Lynne Farrow announce an Open Studio to explore mixed media acrylic collage, focusing on color, shape and value. September 12, 2009 9 am - 3:00 pm. $60 for the whole day or $10 per/hr for as long as you can stay and play. Limited to 10 participants Most art supplies are included in the workshop fee with the exception of larger MDF boards for painting structures. Bring a sack lunch. Norm Kirk will be conducting a six week watercolor workshop in the Ojai Art Center once again. It begins Sept 24th and runs for the following five Thursdays from one to four p.m.The fee is $225 and the class size is limited to nine students. For additional information call Norm at 525-9788.
