Message from the CEO

Scott Parker

Dear Vibra Bank Friends,

This July VIBRA Bank celebrated its second anniversary.  Hard to believe, right?  These past two years have been very successful and I want to start by expressing my gratitude to everyone who has helped us achieve this success.

VIBRA Bank's second anniversary is marked by growth.  As I write this, we are completing the reporting and accounting for the second quarter 2010, and we continue to show strong results and positive trends.  Recently, there has been a lot of media about credit being tight, but Vibra Bank is a community bank that is actively lending, and the results speak for themselves.

As of June 30, 2010 our loan portfolio grew to about $50 million.  That is $50 million that has been put to work in our market, providing economic stimulus, creating jobs, and funding investments vital to the economy.   Virtually every dollar of deposits we manage is put back to work in the form of loans.  Not every bank can say that.  So if you are banking with Vibra Bank, you can tell people that your bank is not part of the problem, but part of the solution.

That brings me to our customers whom I wish to thank for choosing VIBRA Bank as their financial partner.  Many of them are achieving success and growth themselves, and it is a privilege to be part of that.

My appreciation also extends to our excellent and dedicated staff, and our committed Board of Directors, all of whom share the vision of Vibra Bank and contribute to the value of what we are building.    Finally, to our shareholders, who saw the potential of Vibra Bank before there was a VIBRA Bank, and who now are some of our strongest ambassadors in the community.

We will continue to work hard for all of our stakeholders, and we are excited about our future.  If you know someone who isn't enjoying their banking relationship, tell them about Vibra Bank...they'll thank you for it.

VIBRA Customer Showcase- Josie Calderon
 JLC Consultant Services
Josie CalderonWith unemployment rates climbing into the double digits and the economy plummeting into an all time low, small business owner Josie Calderon, brainstormed on how she and other small businesses could weather the economic storm.  "The private sector work had come to a screeching halt and government contract opportunities were limited.  Always the optimist, I looked for the silver lining and to me that came in the form of stimulus federal infrastructure dollars earmarked for San Diego," says Calderon.

Calderon believes San Diegans did not fare well by an earlier stimulus package that bailed out large banks to the exclusion of the neighborhood banks that were helping sustain our small businesses.  So she saw the need to advocate for community banks.  She asked for legislative support so stimulus infrastructure funds could be allocated to create contract opportunities for small businesses.  Her efforts were fueled by the leadership of Congressman Bob Filner, who formed the 51st congressional small business roundtable that served to champion for small business.  This leadership has now mushroomed into a series of discussions and initiatives that promote technical assistance and contract opportunities for small and local businesses throughout all levels of government work.

Josie logoAs President of the Mexican American Business and Professional Association she organizes and chairs monthly lunch programs that feature high profile speakers on issues important to the community.   She currently serves on the Statewide and District 11 Caltrans Small Business Council, Community Housing Works Board, Chula Vista Nature Center Board, the South County Economic Development Council Policy and Infrastructure Committees, 78th Assembly District Community Advisory Council, among others.
