Sizzling Summer Savings - Buy 5 Custom Shirts, the 6th Shirt is Absolutely Free.
This month I have a great idea that will help you double the use of your custom shirt wardrobe. I recently found an innovative product that has made button down shirts obsolete. Well, I might be going a bit overboard here, button down shirts will still be worn. However, this is perfect for guys that want to dress casual and don't like traditional button down collars. The story of the "Wurkin Stiff" Collar Stay is below.

I recommend that my custom shirt clients periodically update their shirt wardrobe, so your shirts are fresh and current. My shirtmaker is helping me run a summer wardrobe builder shirt promotion for the month of July only:

Buy 5 shirts and the 6th shirt (of equal or lesser value) is absolutely free.

A perfectly proportioned custom shirt made to your measurements and styled as you desire is the best investment you can make in your wardrobe. Now in addition to a great selection of classic dress shirt styles we offer a fabulous group of shirts that are ideal for corporate casual dressing or weekend wear.

The Wurkin Stiff Collar Stay - The greatest innovation in men's clothing in a long time.

The button-down collar was developed to keep the collar of a polo player from flapping in the wind and evolved into the ubiquitous workshirt of the Ivy League student and the junior excutive of the 1950's.  Unfortunately these collars do not flatter any man's neck or face, and on many, when worn with a tie look downright terrible.

So for years our mantra has been that it is okay to wear a button-down sans tie, but when dressing with a tie, a spread collar (traditional or otherwise) is vastly preferable.  The shirt collar frames the face, and everyone looks better with simple, clean lines there.  Many button-down collars when buttoned to the top, exhibit an unsightly rolling or wrinkling at the neck that leads the eye upward to the face of the wearer.  Enough said.

Nowadays,a shirt may often be required to serve double duty, being worn with a tie part of the day, and part without, so what is the answer?  In the past we've designed the hidden button-down, on which the button is underneath the collar and is secured with either a loop or an extra triangle of fabric on the collar's underside.  While this works, it can be tedious and pressing by an overzealous dry-cleaner can leave an ugly imprint of the button.

Enter Jonathan Boos, a creative acquaintance who has invented a simple solution we are proud to offer you:  Wurkin Stiffs Magnetic Collar Stays have revolutionized the shirt wardrobes of many of our clients.  You can now wear our perfectly proportioned spread collars casually as you wish!  See the photos below for a visual explanation and when we visit, ask us for a real demonstration.

Q & A - ASK KEN

Ken Grossman

Question:
What is the rule on sock color?

Answer:

Socks, when visible, act as an extension of the trouser leg. Choose socks in a shade that blends well with your trouser fabric.

Matching suit to sock eliminates calling attention to the ankle in those moments when the trousers' movement reveals the sock, such as when sitting or walking briskly. Trousers should be cut long enough to cover socks at all other times. Always wear socks long enough to keep from exposing bare skin between the sock and trouser leg even when sitting. Over the calf socks or long anklets that extend beyond the calf are preferred. Executive Image sells the Punto Made In Italy sock made in Superfine Merino Wool and fine Mercerized Egyptian Cotton in both solids and patterns.
