GREAT OAKS UPDATE · June 4, 2010
Greetings!

We're planning our 2nd annual Great Oaks picnic on Sunday, June 27. Hope you can join us!

We are beginning to add family profiles to our updates. You can meet Jim & Karen Boniface this week (see below). If you are a part of the Great Oaks family, please send us a photo and some info on yourself. We want to highlight each person or family in the coming months.

You'll also find Home Church times and locations below, and info on upcoming Sunday Services. Enjoy.

All for Jesus,
Paul
Don't miss our church picnic!Backyard

We have changed the date of our church picnic to Sunday, June 27. It will be held at Stony Creek Metropark, in the Gladeview Picnic Shelter B (see map link below). If you don't have a park pass it's just a $5 dollar entry fee per vehicle for the whole day.

This will be a great time of eating, hanging out and worshiping together, so put the date on your calender! We will start around 5pm, but the paviliBackyardon is reserved for the whole day so feel free to come early! More details to come...

Meet Jim and Karen Boniface!

We want you to meet the people God is sending to Great Oaks. If Great Oaks is your church family, please email us a bit of information about you and your family and a digital photo. Thanks!

Jim was born in West New York, New Jersey, where Tom Maharas led him to Christ when Jim was 21. Subsequently, Jim helped Tom as a founding member of the Manhattan Bible Church, which still thrives in NYC. Jim graduated from and then taught at Faithway Baptist College in Memphis, MI. After his ordination there, he founded a small church at the college chapel. Over the years Jim has been active for God in such ministries as teaching in Christian day schools, Bible studies, and more recently as a spiritual care volunteer at Crittenton Hospital. Currently, he is a Great Oaks Home Church Leader. His hobbies are jogging and writing Christian articles.

A native MichiganBoniface-Jim and Karender, Karen can't remember a time when she wasn't in church. She came to faith early under her father's ministry, baptized before her feet could even touch the bottom of the baptismal tank. When she was in 7th grade, her pastor shared his vision of starting a Christian school, and her heart stirred. That stirring has continued for over 30 years in the classroom and in the launch of her own tutoring business, Inkwell English Education. She is passionate about God, grammar, and good books. She has enjoyed her Cavalier King Charles spaniels and their many litters of puppies.

The Bonifaces have 4 children and 3 grand children and will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary this summer. They love the balance that Great Oaks as a church provides: the authentic interactions in home churches during the week; the in-depth, practical, Bible teaching on Sunday mornings; a multi-generational, multi-racial environment; and an appreciation of spiritual gifts.
