Greetings!
We are getting into the rhythm of weekly Sunday Services. We've also had some joyous opportunities to serve over the past week and a half. You'll read more below.
Please take note of Village locations. The Trombka Village is moving to a new location, and next week the Boniface Village won't be at our home due to our family going to New York City for our daughter Laura's graduation from NYU (yeah, Laura!).
And speaking of daughters, our Aleyse is with us for a couple of months. She'll be working part time as my admin assistant. So when you call the Great Oaks Office (248.434.8929), Aleyse will usually be the person on the other end of the line. Welcome, Aleyse! More below.

Doin' the Stuff
At Great Oaks, we don't want to just talk about Jesus, we want to be "doin' the stuff" that he did! Jesus' life was one of service to others. For us, serving others is a "non-negotiable joy".
April 24 REACH event a blast! Great Oaks worked along beside friends from Kensington and other churches in Pontiac at Grace Centers of Hope to beautify the area. The Great Oaks folks had the job of cutting down trees and clearing underbrush on Seneca Street. We had a blast. Thanks to all for joining us!
Moving a New
Family Member!
Keo's
Moving Crew |
This past Friday a crew from Great Oaks, together with some friends, helped move Keo Semphadile into her new apartment on (would you believe it) Great Oaks Blvd. Keo is an international Ph.D. student at OU from Botswana, Africa. She attended Great Oaks for the first time the Sunday before last, and she's already part of the family! We had a wonderful time together hauling stuff, eating pizza, and making new friends. Keo wrote:
All you wonderful brothers and sisters. By your love and caring, it shows that you are truly devoted to be like Christ. He gave up his royal position to come and live like me and you. He served all those he encountered. His love for humankind was unconditional. I would like to thank you all for making my moving such a memorable event. I know that those who were not present physically, were there spiritually. This act of love has added so much to my growth as a follower of Christ. May you be richly blessed. Keo
And we are blessed! |
New "Staff" Member
Aleyse Bradford | The Bradford's oldest child, Aleyse, is home for a couple of months. Aleyse
is a professional dancer in New York City. She's taking some time away
from the noise of New York. While she's with us, she'll be working as
her dad's administrative assistant.
Aleyse is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma (the other "OU") where she received her Bachelors in Fine Arts in modern dance performance. As part of our worship at our Sunday Service on May 16 Aleyse will be dancing.
Welcome, Aleyse!

Sunday Mornings at West Middle School
We are now meeting every Sunday at 10 am at West Middle School, 500 Old Perch Road, Rochester Hills.
The Message The two great tragedies of our humanity is the power of sin and death in our lives. Sunday we'll share how Jesus conquered both sin and death through his resurrection, and why we can be sure the resurrection is a historical event, which gives us confidence in what Jesus has won for us.
Worship Our worship band will lead us in praising the Lord!

Downtown Prayer!
Each Friday morning from 7:45 to 8:15 am, a small group of folks from Great Oaks are meeting at the Bean and Leaf coffee shop in downtown Rochester. Our
prayer time is informal, most onlookers
wouldn't even know we're praying. But we are, and we're aiming to bless
our city and bless Bean and Leaf as well. We sit together in small
groups of 3 or 4 and pray in a conversational tone of voice, praising
God, interceding for our area, and praying for Great Oaks. We're
having a great time. We can since God's presence and pleasure. Join us
if you can!
