Beginning a New Year
Greetings!
In brief, here's what you'll find in this update... - Sunday Services
are Changing Dates and Location.
- Villages are meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday this week and into the New Year.
- We are beginning a "Pastoral Advisory Team" to help in planning.
- We need a "Portability Director" and a Sunday set up team. Is this a way you can serve?

Tuesday Evening Village

New Dates & Location for Sunday
2nd and 4th Sundays in January - new location in February
For January only we will be meeting the 2nd and 4th Sunday evenings at 6 pm at Kensington Community Church. We'll meet in Room 114. Our children will be in Room 112.
But in February we'll have a big change. We'll begin meeting the 1st and 3rd Sunday mornings of each month at 10 am at West Middle School (500 Old Perch Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48309). Meeting on Sunday mornings in a rented facility is a major strategic step of faith. The step is strategic because it allows us to more fully develop our own identity as a congregation, and provides a great time and place for guests and newcomers to join us. The step requires faith because we will need to rent the space and purchase audio/visual equipment, as well as supplies for a nursery and children's ministry. We will also need volunteers for set up and take down.
We are excited about this step forward, and will be sharing more at Villages and through our Updates.
We are planning to begin weekly public services in September. In the meantime, we are meeting weekly in Villages, which are informal church services in homes.

Getting set to Set Up!
As we move to West Middle we'll need a set up crew
Beginning in February we'll need to set up each week for our Sunday Services. First, we'll need a person who will take charge. We are creating a position called our "Portability Director" to fulfill this role. The Portability Director will be a volunteer staff member who will work with Carlos Oxholm, our Technical Director, to get everything ready for Sunday morning services. Could this be you?
Of course, the Portability Director will need a team to help with set up. If you are a "hands on" person, this is a great way to contribute to the Great Oaks ministry.

The Our Mission

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor... that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display his splendor.

Pastoral Advisory Team beginning
As Great Oaks grows we need a team of people to give Pastor Paul input to help in decision making. This team will have an advisory role, which means it won't have formal authority, but it will have important influence, since members will provide insight and perspective on decisions that need to be made.
Members of this team need to be people who are coming faithfully to a Village and our Sunday gatherings so they are in touch with what is happening at Great Oaks. They need to be committed to our vision through the giving of their time and giving financially. They need to be committed to our Lord Jesus Christ and his mission in this world of making followers of Jesus that bring God glory.

Year End Giving
You can contribute online before the year ends
Many mature believers make it a practice at the close of each year to make certain they've given a tenth part of their income to the Lord. We encourage you to do
the same.

While
we don't give for the purpose of receiving a tax deduction, the fact
that contributions are tax deductible is a blessing and an added reason
