Fabulous First Serve Event!
Great Oaks Church partners with Grace Centers of Hope
Over twenty Great Oaks people of all ages gave of their love, time and energy to turn a strip of bare ground alongside Grace Gospel Fellowship in downtown Pontiac into a beautifully landscaped area complete with bushes, flowers and mulch. We also did carpentry work on one of the homes on Seneca street, planted flowers around the Grace Centers of Hope (GCoH) playground, and helped clean the Grace Gospel Fellowship worship center from drywall dust left from construction work. We had a fantastic time together. We had a tour of GCoH, ate and worked side by side with some GCoH residents.

We made friends, deepened existing friendships, and did some practical acts of kindness that were very rewarding. A couple of our young men also played a pick up basketball game with some young men from Pontiac and had a blast. We all went home with joy in our hearts and, I suspect, all slept well Saturday night!
If you couldn't join us, don't worry, we'll do another serve event soon. Details will be forthcoming. Plan on joining us. I guarantee you'll go away from serving with a deep sense of fulfillment. We always seem to receive more than we give. That's a principle of the Kingdom.

Planning Ahead
Great Oaks meeting to discuss future plans
Our Thursday Village won't meet this week. We are excited about having a time to do some strategic planning together and this night seemed to work best for people. So, on Thursday we're going to meet at the home of Dave and Terri Trombka, 6799 Houghten Drive, Troy MI 48098 (Click here for MapQuest) to do just that.
At our planning time we will be discussing things like plans for the summer, ways to reach our community, and getting the word out about Great Oaks.
This event is open to everyone who believes that Great Oaks is, or may become, their church home. If you have gifting in leadership, strategy, planning, or marketing, this will be a time those gifts will be especially helpful.
We will send out an Evite for this event. Please respond so we can plan well and be prepared to welcome everyone!

Evites are Coming
We're doing something new
We are beginning to send out "Evites" for all our Villages and Events out of thoughtfulness for our host families so they can prepare. We ask everyone to take one minute of your time each week to reply to the Evites. All you need to do is click "View Invite" and then click on "Yes", "No" or "Maybe".
These Evites will help us better plan for our meetings. If you are a host or are bringing refreshments, for instance, you can view the guest list anytime to see who is planning to come.
Note that "Evite" is a free
service paid for by the advertisements on the Evites website and emails. By using Evite we
