GREAT OAKS CHURCH UPDATE · March  21, 2009
First Village Gathering
The Adventure is Beginning!

Our first Great Oaks Village Gathering will be held Thursday, April 2, for 7 to 9 pm at the home of Bill and Patti Gibbons (5533 Folkstone Dr., Troy MI 48098). The meeting was originally planned for March 26, but was changed due to scheduling conflicts.

Villages are medium size groups of 20 to 30 people, which get together for worship, prayer, friendship, teaching and sharing. Oh yes, we'll also have refreshments! As the future unfolds, we envision a hundred Villages throughout the area. The Villages will not only meet together, but will also reach out together in creative ways to those who don't know Jesus.

This first Village Gathering will be a model of what we'll be doing in the future. The teaching in these initial gatherings will focus on understanding our values and training for ministry.

Your RSVP will be helpful for us to plan. You can RSVP with a brief email to Paul@GreatOaksChurch.com. Thank you!

Interest Meetings a Success

We held our first three interest meetings at Kensington Church. We had 21 adults at our first meeting (plus about 14 kids!), 12 at our second meeting, and 12 at our third meeting. As of now we have over two dozen adults actively praying about joining Great Oaks and another two dozen or so who have expressed interest. May the Lord guide all of you who are in prayer, and bless your walk in Christ wherever he may lead you!

We are planning a public presentation at Kensington weekend services late in April and early in May. More interest meetings will follow. We'll give you more details as they are available.

Want to Learn More about Great Oaks?

Great Oaks Church is a new church plant in Rochester Hills, Michigan. We are still in the "gathering" stage, meaning we are working to gather the initial core group to launch the church. While many core group members will be joining us because they want to be very active in helping lay the foundation of Great Oaks, others may love our vision but not be in a season of life to give a great deal of time. You are welcome wherever you find yourself in your life or spiritual journey.

If you would like to learn more about Great Oaks, feel free to email Pastor Paul Bradford or call him at 616.886.5500. We will also be holding periodic interest meetings. If you have signed up to receive this update, you'll receive notice as these occur. You are also welcome to join us at one of our Village Gatherings (see above).

Our Mission
(Isaiah 61:1-3)

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor... that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display his splendor.
