Tonya 2011WELCOME

It's a great time to be a technology entrepreneur in the Tampa Bay area and the Innovation Center is right at the heart of things.

Six Innovation Center clients - Homeland Intelligence Technologies, MilitaryParts.com, ReadyAlert Services, Talent Sprocket, Tattle-Trail and Wildbright Technologies, Inc. - have been invited to participate in coolTECH 2012, to be held at the Tampa Convention Center on Friday, June 22.  A showcase for new technologies, coolTECH attracts more than 600 technology innovators and business leaders to interact with some of the best technologies the Bay area has to offer.  Last year, our client Altorr participated and won Honorable Mention and one of our graduates, Alakai Defense Systems, also participated.

The Innovation Center has submitted an application to be a partner for the statewide GrowFL Economic Gardening program that begins August 1.  The program provides participants with technical assistance, CEO Roundtables and a CEO Forum (twice per year) at no cost!

To be eligible for the program, a company must be a for-profit, privately held, investment-grade business that:
*    Employs at least 10 persons but not more than 50 persons
*    Has maintained its principal place of business in Florida for
at least the previous two years
*    Generates at least $1 million but not more than $25 million
     in annual revenue

Time is short, so please contact us quickly if you're interested in the GrowFL program and we'll be happy to provide additional information.

What is the most valuable lesson a professional mentor taught you?
Slow down and Listen! This was something I learned a few times, most recently from Jabil CEO Tim Main. Tim is a very smart businessman and his skill in working with customers at the very highest level is well documented. He once told me almost in passing that the best way to understand what the customer really wants is to close your mouth and listen!

Tell us about your current project/venture/business. I am currently working in a great growing company which is headquartered in Largo, Florida. (More ...)
