WELCOME
Last month we announced the Tampa Bay Innovation Center. Much more than just a rebranding of STAR TEC, the Innovation Center serves as a focal point for innovation within the Tampa Bay area and the state of Florida, working in partnership with prominent innovation organizations locally, statewide and nationwide.
This is an ambitious undertaking and we are developing the Innovation Center's services and partnerships carefully and deliberately - all built around the concepts of "Think it, Build it, Grow it."
We are pleased to be adding an important program to our "Build it" element - what we are calling our Leadership Certificate program that will be formally announced in July. With an audience of technology start ups and early stage ventures, this program will address challenges associated with launching and growing a new or early stage technology company through connections, education, collaboration, resources, advisors and mentors.
We'll provide more detail in our July newsletter, when we'll also be launching our new web site. We look forward to hearing your comments and seeing you at an upcoming TECH Talk or StartUp Xchange. In the meantime, watch for updates on Facebook and Twitter.

| Field Forensics on Fast Growth Track | Early last year President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan, in order to stem the production of a certain type of home made explosive by terrorists, banned the import and use of a particular fertilizer called ammonium nitrate. However, the Afghan Border Police had no way of distinguishing legal phosphate-based fertilizers from the illegal ammonium nitrate fertilizers.
Field Forensics, Inc. (FFI) of Largo stepped in with a solution. The U.S. Government bought FFI's newly developed IDEX-002 ammonium nitrate identification kits and supplied the kits to the Afghan Border Police, who were then trained on the use of the kits by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. So far FFI has shipped tens of thousands of the IDEX-002 kits to the police in Afghanistan.
FFI Founder and CEO Craig Johnson has spent 25 years in the sensor and detection business, detecting and analyzing radioactive material, explosives, chemical weapons and other such materials, and has gained a number of insights into what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur, particularly in this industry.

BizSpark provides access to current, full-featured tools and platforms for designing, developing, testing and demonstrating software applications. These include:
· ASP.NET: a technology for building dynamic web applications
· Expression Studio: tools for designing and building web and Windows client applications and rich media content
· SQL Server: all editions of the Microsoft database server software
