CONGRATS!

May and June saw us recognize many many graduating seniors from high school along with several of our graduating college students.
We would also like to make special mention of Claire Schweinhart and Chad Moles for achieving salutatorian status in their high school graduating classes.
Keep all of our graduates in your prayers as they enter the next phase of their lives. |

Fellowship Hall Roof Update

An article in the May Connection titled "INVESTING in the FUTURE" made you aware of the emergency need to replace the roof over our Fellowship Hall, kitchen, parlor and offices. The Trustees have contracted with Benchmark Roofing to replace the roof. As of June 20, Benchmark is working to select the proper fastening method for our application. Hopefully, all work will have been completed as you read this update.
Of key importance is that the Finance Team has had to secure a loan to allow us to pay for this capital repair. The Team would like to pay this loan off as soon as possible.
As of June 20, we have received only $650 to compliment the generous $5000 contribution made previously. With a total cost of $35-40,000 (depending on the damage found as the existing roof is removed), we have a long way to go to pay for this critical project.
It is crucial that we invest now to maintain our wonderful facility to ensure the future success of the Mt Moriah missions. Any gifts targeted at reducing the debt for this emergency project will be gratefully appreciated. |

AMA Activity

For our July 30 AMA activity, Art and I plan dinner at Applebee's in
Eastgate, followed by a free concert at the Union Township Administration
Bldg. outdoor pavilion. The concert will feature Jake Speed & the Freddies.
Jake Speed is a Cincinnati-based folk, bluegrass & ragtime band composed of
flat top guitar, banjo, mandolin & upright bass. The band has been a
four-time winner of the Cincinnati Entertainment Award. The band's website
is
www.freddiesmusic.com.
We'll meet for dinner around 6:15 p.m. and then drive the short distance to
the concert, which begins at 8:00. Be sure to bring lawn chairs since the
concert is outdoors. It should be a fun, relaxing time of fellowship, great
food, and entertainment. Please pray for good comfortable temperatures and NO RAIN!!!
Please let Art or me know no later than July 27 if you plan to have dinner
with us at Applebee's so we can give them a head count. They are equipped
to accommodate groups. Please respond by email at mmittendorf@fuse.net or
phone 218-7692.
Hope to see everyone there!
Blessings!

God ~ Your Personal Coach
Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, and Biggest Loser have millions of viewers. Dave Ramsey and many others have millions listen their talk show radio programs.
Dr. Oz discusses medical issues, prevention, treatment and patient awareness. Dr. Phil debates relational issues for building healthier relationships. Biggest Loser brings the medical and the relational together showing some persons are overweight due to physical, emotional, and relational imbalance, making a connection that our emotional health affects our physical.
God designed and created our bodies yours and mine; smallest cell to DNA details. From the beginning of creation God has been teaching us we are more than physical, emotional, mental or relational beings - we are spiritual beings with all the other components. We need to be emotionally, relationally, physically and spiritually balanced. To those who will receive His advice, coaching, and love, God teaches the need for balance in all the above.
God must be our first and foremost guide for life. Therefore it is imperative that we read His word and meet Him in prayer. To help us move forward in reading God's word our July sermon series "Revealed " has a weekly handout giving daily activities for Scripture reading as we travel through the book of Romans.
Daily you have the opportunity to explore the life-enriching teachings contained in Romans which are relevant today. As you interact with Scripture and pray, they bless and enrich your life living aware of God and His guidance.
Make sure you allow God to be "Revealed" to you throughout the month of July, DON'T MISS another opportunity.
Upcoming sermon series with study August "Happiness"
Meet You in God's Word

Why should we pledge?
AND WHO AM I? I am the Financial Secretary for the church. That means I count all the pledges as they come in and help with the budget. I keep track of all pledges paid and various other monies coming in and then report to Finance Committee each month. I am a former church secretary/business manager for Mt. Moriah. I am a thirty year member of Mt. Moriah and have known and worked for and with five of our pastors. In the past several years, I have seen firsthand the financial status of our church and the many hard working volunteers who repeatedly step up and do what needs to be done to keep our church and day care operating on a daily basis in order to keep all of our wonderful ministries thriving and growing. I have seen the new sanctuary planned and built and know all about the expenses of upkeep and maintaining the current buildings and property.
Every month, I see our Finance members discuss and plan how to cut expenses and still maintain a thriving church property. I see our Trustees work tirelessly - free of charge. Recently, a Trustee told me that our Trustees (and many others) work so hard because they have an emotional and heartfelt love and concern for Mt. Moriah.
If we could all fill out a pledge card each year with whatever we are able to give - financially, prayerfully, or in any way, it would help so much in the planning and continuing growth of our church and ministries.
Pledges can be changed and or modified at any time and they are completely confidential. Please consider making your pledge as we begin our fiscal year in July.

Partnering with InterParish Ministry
Chuck Swanson of Inter Parish Ministry called and asked, "May we again bring a mobile food pantry from the Free Store Foodbank to your parking lot?" Pastor Lowe readily said, "YES!" and again our church reached out in love to those in our community.
On Wednesday, March 30, volunteers from mount Moriah worked with other IPM volunteers to unload fresh vegetables, packaged meals, and canned goods from a large box truck sent from the downtown center. Families who had met the need requirements at IPM were invited to come and receive this additional food. Over 70 families came during the two hour distribution period.
Mount Moriah people helped set-up tables, distribute food, provided coffee and helped transport the remaining food to the IPM Center in Newtown. People waiting their turn were invited to come inside the narthex to get out of the cold rain and sleet that fell during the distribution. We were happy to provide the location again for food to be given to families in need.
Inter Parish Ministry was formed over 47 years ago to assist families and children living in poverty. Today we are one of over 40 churches, plus many individuals, businesses, schools and other community groups that support IPM's Christian outreach. For more information go to WWW.interparish.org |

Mt. Moriah United Methodist Men 2011
6th Annual Spring Golf Outing
The Mt. Moriah United Methodist Men held their 6th Annual Golf Outing at Friendly Meadows Golf Course on June 4. Eight (8) foursomes, a total of 32 golfers, enjoyed a beautiful day - thanks once again to Stanley Wilfert who used his connections stop the rain in mid drip and ensure unbelievable weather day! All participants were given their choice of a door prize. We raised nearly $1400 that will help sustain our youth scholarship program and other mission efforts sponsored by the Methodist Men. SEM
The SEM Food Pantry is having another busy year, and we expect to serve ---more than 11,200 clients this year. While the need is great, we are happy to report that our SEM churches, service groups, and individuals are giving us extraordinary support, and we have been able to meet the needs of those who ask us for assistance.
Your church is where it all started. Way back in the spring and summer of 1966, a group from Mt. Moriah invited other churches to begin to plan for an organization that would be able to do mission collectively that churches were unable to do individually. By late 1966, we prepared a constitution and in January 1967 SEM was born with 9 churches, including Mt. Moriah, participating. Should you ever have any questions about SEM or the SEM Food Pantry, I should be happy to answer them. I can be reached at 752-6569 or by email at Segdirb1@juno.com.
Your brother in Christ, Robert T. Bridges |
