"RAISE THE ROOF" UPDATE!

Mt. Moriah initiated our "Raise the Roof Campaign" in March to generate the funds necessary to replace the aging Sanctuary roof and pave the parking lots and drives around the Education Building. The Trustees asked for $30,000 to be budgeted for the Sanctuary roof, our first priority. To date, approximately 80 giving units have contributed to our campaign, raising $23,060.

Rather than wait until there's a potential crisis (i.e. leaks in the Sanctuary roof) to complete the roof project, the Trustees requested approval to obtain a loan for the balance of the funds needed for the roof. Mt.Moriah's Church Council approved this action.

The Finance Team has secured a loan at a very attractive rate, and the Trustees are moving forward with the project. Mt Moriah's own Don Wright and his company will begin and complete the roofing project in mid-September.

Please remember that we still will need to repay this loan and also complete the paving work; therefore, we will continue the "Raise the Roof Campaign" until all necessary funds have been raised. The Finance Team will continue to show our progress on the display boards located in the Narthex and the Church Office.

We ask that you please consider making a donation toward this effort. Know that a contribution of any amount helps. There are no special "Raise the Roof" envelopes or pledge cards. Simply add your contribution to your regular tithes or place your donation in the weekly offering, indicating your wish for your gift to go toward "Raising the Roof."  Thank you for your generous giving in helping to maintain our facilities.

"FEARLESS" by Max Lucado

"Each sunrise seems to bring fresh reasons for fear.

They're talking layoffs at work, slowdowns in the economy, flare-ups in the Middle East, turnovers at headquarters, downturns in the housing market, upswings in global warming. The plague of our day, terrorism, begins with the word terror. Fear, it seems, has taken up a hundred-year lease on the building next door and set up shop. Oversized and rude, fear herds us into a prison of unlocked doors. Wouldn't it be great to walk out?

Imagine your life, wholly untouched by angst. What if faith, not fear, was your default reaction to threats? If you could hover a fear magnet over your heart and extract every last shaving of dread, insecurity, or doubt, what would remain? Envision a day, just one day, where you could trust more and fear less.

Can you imagine your life without fear?"

Let us know in the office if you would like to purchase a book ($20) and be a part of either the Sunday afternoon (3pm) or Wednesday morning (10:00) study. Classes begin week of September 12.

Trust More - Fear LESS

News From the Ark of Learning

We're so excited about the 2010-2011 school year! The summer went by so quickly-here we are gearing up for the fall. As my grandmother would say, "Where did the time go?" We're saying good-bye to many of the school-age children as they prepare to return to their elementary and middle school classrooms. I'm going to miss all those bigger bodies, bigger appetites, and louder voices! Thanks to Pam Robinson for heading up another successful summer program. Our preschoolers are eager to take on the challenges of social, emotional and intellectual development. Of course, we disguise all the "work" as "fun!"

We are always looking for ways to improve our surroundings. A CAEYC (Cincinnati Association for the Education of Young Children) grant bought us materials to enhance our gardening project. Through profits made on our fundraisers, we were able to carpet another classroom. Last, but not least, through your generosity we purchased a llama, a sheep, and some ducks for Heifer, International; and we shipped 2 care packages to our service men and women overseas. Thank you for showing our children that kindness matters.

Throughout this school year, I hope you will take the time to get to know your child's teachers. We all want what is best for your child. Working together, we create a loving environment in which your child can feel encouraged to explore. We offer age-appropriate experiences to help him or her grow socially, physically, emotionally, intellectually, creatively, and in his or her understanding that each is a unique, special child of God. My door is always open should you have any suggestions, questions, or concerns.

Enrollment is still open, so register your child now, or recommend us to family and friends.
