Did you know that FirstEnergy offers business customers incentives to swap their old lighting with high efficiency lighting? Incentives are calculated by the type of fixture and number of units being installed?  More information about the program, qualifications and incentive calculator can be obtained by clicking here. Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses - Everything your Small Business Needs to Grow
Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses at Cuyahoga Community College is a practical business management education program that helps you develop the skills you need to grow your company.  If you are selected to participate, you also will receive a series of one-on-one business advising sessions from dedicated professionals to help develop a tailored plan for growth. 

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is a $500 million national program designed to help small businesses in the United States create jobs and economic growth by providing entrepreneurs with a practical business education, access to capital and business support services.

Nominations for the Green Chamber's IMPACT Awards
Know a business worthy of receiving the Green Chamber of Commerce's IMPACT award?  The awards are designed to honor accomplishments by business and professionals in the areas of Vision, Community, Environment and IMPACT.  If you know of a Green company or Green Chamber of Commerce member who is deserving of this distinction, nominate them by using the following application.  The Green Chamber is accepting applications for this year's IMPACT awards until Friday, October 12, 2012.  Click here for an application or contact the Green Chamber of Commerce at info@greencoc.org.

Taste of Green - Coming Memorial Day Weekend 2013

Yes, we know it's a little early to be thinking about Memorial Day 2013 when we haven't carved our Turkey or broken out the Christmas sweater, but I'm sure some of you have heard through the grape vine that a new event is coming.  The Taste of Green will take place May 25-27, 2013 primarily along Town Park Blvd. and Town Park Crossings and adjacent areas.  The event will be a tree-day lifestyle festival, promising great food, fun and entertainment for all.

 

Presented by the City of Green and produced by Connecting For A Cause, Taste of Green will raise funds for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Green Schools Foundation and The Friends of Green Parks Foundation. To read the full press release, click here.

Green Grad Comes Home to Speak about Sustainability
Mike Wallace Headshot Green High Alumni and sustainability expert, Mike Wallace, director of Global Reporting Initiatives in New York City  

will present Sustainability: Measuring, Managing & Reporting to the City's Green Task Force, city employees and high school students in City Council Chambers, 1755 Town Park Blvd., on Monday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. 

 

The purpose of the presentation is to kick off the new City of Green's Living Green Initiative and newly named Green Task Force, responsible for setting the priorities for sustainability issues in Green.  

 

Wallace, a 1986 graduate of Green High, is the Director of the Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) Focal Point USA. Launched in January 2011 at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), GRI's Focal Point USA is responsible for supporting the growth and quality of sustainability reporting in the U.S.

Mike has almost 20 years of experience advising corporations, non-profits and government agencies in their respective efforts to develop and implement sustainability initiatives. He is a recognized expert in the field, with a unique specialization in the intersection of sustainability and traditional corporate governance. He has authored numerous articles on the topic and was a contributor to Climate Change - a Guide to Carbon Law & Practice.  

 

In addition to speaking globally on the topic of sustainability, Mike has given expert testimony to the European Commission, the US Securities & Exchange Commission, and a range of business associations like the U.S. Business Roundtable and the National Investor Relations Institute. He speaks regularly around the U.S. and Canada on the topic of sustainability reporting. Mike has been recognized for his expertise in the field by his inclusion in the 2011 NACD Directorship 100, and in Trust Across America's Top 100 Thought Leaders.
