Green Chamber Hosting Government Officials Breakfast

On April 15, the Green Chamber of Commerce and the Lake/Green Rotary will be hosting a Government Officials Breakfast. In the current economic environment, businesses are interested in having more open discussions with their elected leaders about current issues affecting their operations.    

Among those attending this event will be:

  • Susan Verble, Director of Regional Affairs - Representing Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor
  • Elizabeth Walters, District Director - Representing U.S. Representative Betty Sutton
  •  Chris Cupples, Economic Development Coordinator  - Representing U.S. Representative Tim Ryan
  •  Ohio House Representative Todd McKenney
The breakfast is at Raintree Country Club 4350 Mayfair Road, Uniontown, OH 44685 and begins with registration and buffet at 7:30 a.m.  It will adjourn at 9:00 a.m.  The cost of the event is $15 for members and $25 for non-members.

NAFTA and Border Compliance Workshop

NEOTEC is hosting a NAFTA workshop on April 28.  This is an in-depth,full-day workshop led by international law expert and Customs attorney Adrienne Braumiller along with Mexican and Canadian border brokers. 

 

After reviewing NAFTA basics, the presenters will focus the majority of the program on in-depth NAFTA topics including:

  • Border broker perspectives
  • Customs clearance to Canada and Mexico
  • Canadian non-resident importer program
  • NAFTA rules and regulations
  • Content requirements
  • Determining regional value content
  • Case studies from Mexico and Canada

Financing Available for Energy Upgrades 
Wind Turbine

 

An initiative that will provide loan funds to for-profit businesses focused on completing energy efficiency projects and reducing operational costs. Eligible projects include the installation of the following: insulation; heating, venting, and air conditioning (HVAC) units; lighting retrofits; weather sealing; energy management systems; solar powered appliances; photovoltaic panels; and the replacement of windows and doors.

The loan program provides funds at a low interest rate. Applicants must demonstrate the energy conservation aspect of the project, provide an estimate of the amount of energy that will be saved and renewable energy that will be utilized and be capable of demonstrating energy saving results upon completion of the project.

City Update
Property Beautification Competition
Hoffman's LogoLast year the City launched a residential property beautification competition.  This year the City has expanded the program to include commercial and industrial properties!  Join the challenge.  Your company can earn a $250 gift card and plaque as well as bragging rights for being the first business to win the award. 

To qualify, businesses within the City should expect to make landscape improvements to their property to keep Green an attractive place to do business.  The City will select the winners based on before and after photos. This year, the City of Green is pleased to be partnering with one of our local professional landscaping businesses, Hoffman's Garden Center, 1021 East Caston Road.  

 

Applications and official rules are available online, at the Central Administration Building and at Hoffman's Garden Center.  Applications are due no later than 4 pm on May 20.

Road Construction Update

Arlington Road
The second season of the Arlington Road construction project has kicked off.  Please use caution when driving in the construction zone.  The second season will focus on widening Arlington from I-77 to Liberty Green Drive, widening the Moore Road Intersection and rerouting Jarvis Road to Arlington Ridge.  Widening will occur to the western portion of the road while traffic is diverted to the east. 

 

Duse to safety concerns. Arlington Road would be shifted to one lane in each direction with a center turn lane.  Please click here to see a map of the new traffic pattern.

Town Park Boulevard
Work will begin this summer to extend Town Park Blvd. to the east.  This project will make way for additional access points into the new Akron General Health & Wellness Center.
