The City of Green is engaging in frequent conversations with our greatest asset, our local businesses, in order to share important City updates, provide information about local business assistance programs, as well as welcome and recognize local business successes. This is our fifth edition of Business Matters, and more will come every other month. The newsletter is currently reaching more than 400 readers; however, we would like to make sure all businesses in Green subscribe as this is the best way to share information quickly. Charting the Course - March 24, 2010
 Mayor Dick Norton will host the next Charting the Course on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Central Administration Building. Registration will begin at 8:00 AM and the program will start at 8:30 AM. The Mayor will give business leaders an update on key City projects and new initiatives the City is undertaking. Russ Pry, Summit County Executive, will also provide an update to the Green business community regarding Summit County programs and services.

Green Expo - March 6, 2010 The 4th Annual Green Expo will be held on Saturday, March 6 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Green High School. This exciting and unique event is hosted by the Green Chamber of Commerce, Green Local Schools and the City of Green. The business and community exposition promotes area business and organizations and demonstrates the talents of Green students.
Last year's event drew more than 3,500 attendees and this year's program will feature:
- A Taste of Green food court, featuring area restaurants
- More than 65 display tables representing area businesses and organizations
- Performing arts groups
- Gymnasium of fun for children including a HOT SHOT competition
- Demonstrations and exhibits by students

Kovatch Castings, an investment casting company, services many industries including aerospace, military, medical and much more. Kovatch has called Green home for nearly 20 years.
Kovatch Casting was recently awarded a $1M grant as part of the Targeting Industry Efficiency Program from the Ohio Energy Office. The award was presented to them on Monday, February 8.
The grant will allow Kovatch to replace three inefficient ovens with two rotating ovens. These new ovens will also allow Kovatch to capture and reuse the heat to warm other parts of their building. These new ovens will reduce Kovatch Castings gas consumption by 47 percent and allow them to create 45 new jobs.
Kovatch will be undertaking a 16,000 sq. ft. expansion to accommodate these changes. To learn more about their grant click here.
